What does this mean..."open seasonally"? I just today noticed these chilling words in the CoP ride description on the WDW site. Can someone please tell me when the Carousel is open? I'll be at WDW from Nov 2-14 and the Carousel of Progress is a MUST for me.
Yikes! I'm getting anxiety now over this as I absolutely love the CoP and have greatly missed it ever since it left Disneyland. (I've got fingers crossed!)

The last few years, it's been pretty "open", and not just "seasonally". For a while it was only open during those peak times that I personally try to avoid, but that doesn't seem to be the case much lately.

You SHOULD be good if there's not something specific about refurbishment published.

For the Carousel of Progress, "seasonally" these days seems to mean "all the time". As Cathy said, there was a time when it would just be open during the peak seasons but I haven't been there any time lately when it hasn't been open (I go several times throughout the year).

I have been there the past 2 years the first week in November and it was open.

Also, avoid Friday nights and Saturdays at the Food and Wine Festival. It is so crowded!

Thank goodness and what a relief! Thanks for the info. I feel soooo much better now.

You sit and watch this family progressing through the decades. You move from scene to scene by the audience circling around the center.

If you want to see it go to youtube. I'm sure somebody uploaded it.

Yes--I watched the whole entire show on youtube
i had a craving for some disney, so i searched for it--there it was!

I heard my son later that afternoon singing the song..."a great, big, beautiful tomorrowwwww..."

It's based on an attraction from the 1964 World's Fair, with obvious updates. It's one of those places that is nice to go, just to sit down, in the air conditioning for awhile. We sat through it in June, with another family, with children the same ages as ours. When we left, we told the other couple that both my husband and myself had actually been at the 1964 World's Fair. Neither of them was even born yet, and they were surprised that we remembered anything from it. Boy, did I feel old (and, for the record, I was only 5 years old then).

CoP is always on my must do list. It has been at WDW since my first visit in 1977 and it brings me back to the time when Tomorrowland had an optimistic view of the future to come rather than its current "Spaceport" theme and mish-mosh of attractions. I'm not so sure what is so "Tomorrow" about Tomorrowland anymore. I do like Space Ranger Spin but I can pass on almost everything else..

Sadly I have made the mistake of putting the "a great big beautiful tomorrow" track on my IPod and I listen to it all the time. Now imagine me on my last trip sitting in the show and not being able to keep my self from singing the song.

I sing along as long as I'm far enough away from other people who may be first-timers. Sing away!!!

The only negative to the ride is the song that stays in your head for hours! My daughter and I love the ride. She will be six this year but loves to see how things used to be and marvel at how it is now. She laughs at my old Atari 2600 (which still works) but tries her hardest to beat me at it. Then she slaughters me at PS2.

She loves the one scene where all the wires are everywhere and there are a dozen things plugged into one outlet.

I think this was one of Walt's best work. They did a really good job with the bringing us through the decades.
