A couple of years ago my friend and I went to WDW and she shipped some stuff home from one of the gift shops in MK. With the airplanes charging for extra baggage, I was wondering if the shops still do this?

Yes, shipping items is still an option from most stores on site. I have not done it myself but others have with decent results. However, some have reported slow shipping times.

Yes, shipping is available. We shipped to items home when we were there in March. The time for arrival will depend somewhat on where you live, but we shipped across the country and received our packages about 10 after they shipped.

I have shipped from both various stores in the parks as well as from the large Disney Store in DTD. I always ship almost all of my purchases home. I usually get it within a week of getting home - I have even had them ask me how long I am staying so that they do not mail right away. That way it is not sitting at a neighbor's or on the porch while I am stil away. If you ship the shipping costs are usually offset by the fact that they do not charge FL sales tax on shipped items. You have to ship any snow globes that you may buy. They are not allowed as carry on because of the fluid rules. I would never put one in my checked luggage:)

Thanks for the info. How much does it generally cost?

While I dont have the exact costs, costs will vary depending on the usual factors... size, weight, and value for insurance purposes. From what I understand, its not "cheap" but then again, it may be the only way to get some things home in one piece.

Maybe someone can give an example of what they shipped and how much it was.

We shipped home two items, roughly a pound and a half. A small teapot and cup set, and a Partner Statue. Rough cost for each was about $13.

The cost is based on the value - from x amount to x amount is $10.00 for example then the next range value might be $15.00 etc.

That may be the case, but cant you ship all your items at once from your resort gift shop?

There is some old information (new in October 2006) in this WDW Weekly update (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd061106mg).

It gives the shipping costs and basics on 'how to'.

I'd presume the rates have changed (what rates haven't changed since 10/06, especially where fuel is involved!) but at least it may be the same basic process.

Thanks, Cathy. I vaguely remembered the article. Good refresher because with the new bag restrictions at the airport, this will be a mighty handy option!

Hi Folks

Being from the UK myself and my DF have shipped quite a few items in the past. for international shipping if i remember correctly i think the charges were double the item cost so if its $40 for the iten it will be $80 including shipping.

Whew! That's hefty! I would be very careful what I chose to ship home!!! I guess it's easier than schlepping it across the pond.:)

With the UK £ being so good against the $ shipping cost seem more than reasonable, and that also includes insurance if any damages to the item you can get a replacement.

My DF and I only usually ship the Heavy good such as snow globes things like that!
