Hi Everyone,

Just curious what rides you reccomend for new parents to be and their new little baby on their trip to DL? What rides have you taken an infant on, and how young were your kids when they first started coming to DL?

My eldest was around 18 days old. Maybe it was 16.

My middle son was 19-21 days old.

The baby was old - like 8 to 12 weeks old.

By the way: My sister the pediatrician thinks it was horrible that I took such young babies to Disneyland. I will honor her enough to present that professional opinion. They were in strollers and baby bjorns and except for Rod Miller and our very good friends, we didn't let strangers hold or breathe on them and all three nursed for 13 months.

It's easier to name rides I wouldn't take a baby on than rides I would. You can't take them on any height restricted rides, Autopia, Roger Rabbit or any other ride that requires the rider to sit up unassisted. With the Baby Bjorn we went on many rides. iasw, HM and POTC are great nursing rides as is the train.

It's much easier to take an infant to DL than DCA.

Pretty much anything you get in and go around a track ie Dark rides. Plus Pirates, HM or slow moving train or boat. There are lots. Not sure I would want to but if I had older kids who were bored at home why not.

My babies were "old" the first time they went - 8 months. Lol We took them on everything without a height restriction, even Roger Rabbit and the Ladybug ride in DCA (can't remember the name). I don't recommend those two though unless baby can sit up really good. DS #1 slumped against us and couldn't see anything. Both our kids were fascinated with the rides they went on. I agree with the Baby Bjorn (or whatever one you use). I put the baby in there when he would start to get sleepy then jump on most rides. If he fell asleep, we didn't have to hold him. In fact I have a picture of our youngest at 8 months slumped over in the carrier on BLAB.

I took a baby on Roger Rabbit before the rule and after the rule.

Before the rule, my babies were snug as bugs in a little bjorn. Content and safe.

After the rule, it was a BAD experience and decision. Frankly, I don't understand why the child in the sling wouldn't be ok but a baby barely sitting behind a lap bar that is adjusted to the adults' girth is fine. It's ridiculous.

Piglet was 8 months old, and decided to cut 5 teeth on that trip.

He slept through POTC and HM. He seemed to enjoy IASW.

Most of the trip he sat with grandma on a bench and ate ice cream. ;)

Tiki Room! A lot of children really enjoy the music and all around movement of the place. Although, when I was an infant, I hated the thunder and lightning part and my dad had to take me outside. But anything in the Fantasyland area (minus Matterhorn and the Tea Cups) would be a very good place.

BTW, I was 2 weeks old when I first went to Disneyland. Start the magic early!

Can I pretend to be Piglet during your next trip to DL? ;)

We had to cancel our last trip because our 6 week old got whooping cough! After 13 days in th PICU, I need to be very careful about our next trip with him since his immune system just isnt there.

As for rides, Winnie the Pooh was a fav as is PotC with my little guys.

The Tower of Terror. If you hold a baby out in front of you during free fall, he'll hover in mid-air. Sweet!

My daughter was 18 months and we took her on King Arthur's Carousel, Dumbo, Storybook Canal Boats, IASW, and the train around the park. She loved meeting the princesses (you could meet them around the castle at the time). She also liked meeting Tigger, Pooh, & Eeyore, the parades, and visiting Minnie & Mickey in Toontown.

Snow White and Pinocchio scared her.

She loved TSI and Pooh.

In DCA she pretty much loved everything in Bug's Land and the Redwood Trails area. She also liked King Triton's Carousel.

Our son was about 6 months old for his first trip and he liked Dumbo, Storybook Canal Boats and IASW. He also tolerated the Mad Tea Party very well. For most of these rides, I was a single parent w/ 2 small children.

He also liked Bug's Land.

Just take it slowly and you'll have a great time.

Do not forget the Baby Centers! Especially in Disneyland. A great place to take a break with a little one, and a special place that not everyone can visit. They also have some baby supplies.

If I remember right, my DD was around 8 months the first time we took her. had we lived in SoCal when she was born, I'm sure we would have taken her shortly after she was born. When I have my next child, I am sure that we will be taking her/him on anything that doesn't have a height requirement.

Each of mine was in the 6-8 week range their first trip. They rode everything available without a height requirement. (Didn't have to worry about Roger Rabbit as it didn't exist then! My kids are OLD!)

Took my daughter for the first time when she was 2 months old. We rode storybook rides, but didn't do Dumbo or the train. She didn't like Monsters Inc. it was too loud. We went with her at 9 months and she enjoyed everything we went on, even Monsters Inc. this time.
