View Full Version : Knott's better than DCA?
stevemo 07-02-2001, 09:56 AM I went to Knott's for the first time in a few years, and I realized how much better Knott's is than DCA. Calico Ghost Town has really great theming with lots of visuals, the park has a great mix of rides (except the Dinosaur thing). It has stuff for families, young kids, teens, more coasters and carnival rides than DCA will ever have. And it all costs less. Now whenever I get the itch to visit Disney's other park, I'll head over to Buena Park instead.
cstephens 07-02-2001, 11:24 AM I much prefer DCA to Knott's. The only thing I really like at Knott's nowadays is Ghostrider. I had been contemplating getting a Knott's AP when they suspended AP sales and upgrades at the resort so I couldn't upgrade from my DL-only AP to a 2-park AP. As soon as AP sales and upgrades resumed, I upgraded to a 2-park AP, and I've not thought about the Knott's AP since.
Napsto 07-02-2001, 03:23 PM go dca!
stevemo 07-02-2001, 03:34 PM Go Knott's! They have better rides, better theming, more for kids to do, Timber Mountain Log Ride rules, its less expensive, and they have boysenberry pie! If only they would bring back Knott's Bear-y Tales!
Disney Fan Matt 07-03-2001, 08:59 PM Knotts is much better than DCA. It has all the charm that DCA often misses. It feels very friendly and classic, unlike the corporate feel of DCA. I love them both, but I feel that Knotts is better than DCA.
Kids Rides: Knotts- Camp Snoopy
Big Coaster: Knotts- Ghostrider (over screamin)
Rapids Ride: DCA- GRR over Bigfoot
S&S Tower: Knotts- Supreme Scream over Maliboomer
Dark Rides: Draw- Kingdom of the Dinosaurs or Superstar Limo
Secondary Coaster: Knotts- Montezooma's Revenge over Mullholland Madness
Shows: Knotts- Mystery Lodge over Steps in Time
Theming: Draw- Both are very nice
Overall, I think that Knotts is a better park, not to mention a better value!
Wackokid 07-05-2001, 02:51 PM Knott's is a hell of a lot better than DCA
oh yeah they pretty much killed kingdom of the dinosaurs they put the cars into trains now the lines are always long
also you forgot Boomerang, Jaguar and Perilous Plunge
Disney Fan Matt 07-07-2001, 02:16 PM I didn't put Perilous Plunge, Jaguar and Boomerang, or Log Ride into my comparison because DCA has nothing to compare with these rides. So there is 4 more reasons that Knotts is better than DCA.
sdfilmcritic 01-26-2005, 05:53 AM I have to say a yes and a no. There's some things in each park that the other one lacks. I enjoy both for different reasons.
cstephens 01-26-2005, 10:43 AM Funny, when I was at Knott's on Saturday, I kept wondering how people could possibly think it was better than DCA. Yeah, there are things I like about Knott's (though there are lots I used to like better), but my visit to Knott's really made me just appreciate the Disneyland Resort that much more. But that's just me.
SoCalDude 01-26-2005, 12:29 PM whats with bumping the 4 year old posts?
pisces 01-26-2005, 01:12 PM Yes, Knotts is definitely better with better food and rides.
The Timber Mountain Log Ride, the Calico Mine Ride, their White Water River Rafting is far more interesting than Grizzly River. Panning for gold (a lot of work for very little---but still charming nonetheless).
The Farm bakery beats out anything at Disney. Virginia's Gift Shoppe is better than the Emporium. The Snoopy store is so cute and charming.
And, of course, Mrs. Knotts Chicken Dinners' where the biscuits, alone, (My favorite fried chicken)....make that whole restaurant, but they have a terrific Sunday brunch buffet at Mrs. Knotts also.
Knotts also used to have the best Mexican food in their Fiesta Villiage-----which I don't know if it is still there.
Plus, the funnel cakes!!!! Yum.
I haven't been there since 2001, so I don't know if things around there have changed, these days or not. But it was certainly great back then.
kbanmen 01-26-2005, 01:15 PM THey also have the silver bullet roller coaster..I love it
Hakuna Makarla 01-26-2005, 02:49 PM we enjoyed knotts a lot while we were there. Less crowds and it had great food. I did not want to mention it but I thought the food was much better and I liked the feel of the park. My son also did not cry as much there. He really enjoed camp snoopy and the log ride, the train ride was his favorite and he did a whole lot better in this park then DCA.
QueenAlisha 01-26-2005, 03:54 PM How could you say knotts is better than anything? that place is awful.
Darkbeer 01-26-2005, 04:08 PM I am another one who loves Knott's. It isn't Disneyland, but I prefer Knott's to DCA.
Christmas time at Knott's is amazing, 6 different themes shows, a crafts fair, plus all the regular rides and attractions (The Log Ride gets a holiday overlay).
And Halloween at Knott's is the best. The first park to start offering the special Halloween nights, and is just amazing how many different mazes and shows they find room for in the park, while still operating most of the rides.
Knott's Rocks :)
Flint 01-26-2005, 04:13 PM I've never been to DCA, but I have been to Knott's many times. I stopped going when 3 out of 5 people there were gang-bangers.
sdfilmcritic 01-26-2005, 10:53 PM whats with bumping the 4 year old posts?Don't you believe in the recycling program? ;)
Cancer Norm 02-21-2005, 06:50 PM I too like Knott's over DCA. Since the Knott's family sold the park to Cedar Point Co. it has expanded like you wouldn' believe. Reasonable ticket prices, more parking , and at least one new ride every year...and there good ones too.
DCA with the exception of TOT, Screamin' is a glorified parking lot carnival . I would rather see some cheesy robot dinosaurs than walk past store after store with a few rides sprinkled along the way. I'm sorry, DCA was and still is a big disappointment
Disney Vault 02-25-2005, 05:20 PM I might sound crazy but I like DCA better. Knotts is too run down imo.
kbanmen 02-25-2005, 06:34 PM I think the rides in KNotts are soooooooo much better than DCA but as far as cleaniliness DCA is much better,.because I CLEAN IT and notice all the bad cleaniliness things in knotts
Cancer Norm 02-26-2005, 08:36 AM ...I look at it this way, would I want to be in a "old western" surrounding or a "carnival" setting?
sdfilmcritic 02-26-2005, 02:52 PM They both have their pros and cons. I enjoy visiting both parks. So, in my book I would say they would tie for second place with Disneyland taking the first place spot.
