Rank the Pixar movies

With some people saying they like Wall-E the best of all Pixar movies, it got me to thinking of how I would rate them.

Wall-E is the 9th, but I have not seen it yet. Of the 8 I have seen, I would rank them as:

1) Toy Story
2) Toy Story 2
3) Finding Nemo
4) Incredibles
5) Cars
6) A Bug's Life
7) Ratatouille
8) Monsters Inc

For me, there is a pretty big drop from 3 to 4.

I think Monster's Inc is the one I just don't like.

How would you rank them?

Holy Cow!

My ranking would have to be:

1. Ratatouille
2. Incredibles

8. A Bug's Life

That was harder than I thought it would be for the simple fact that I love them all in their own story.

I cant wait to go on Monday with Katran to see it! And then BBQ afterward! yum!

Yes, I agree with karl, this is tough. Pixar's later flicks, to me, seem to be more diverse and robust from typical animated films and even each other. In fact, in my list, I'd rather call the top 6 or 7 a tie than rank them. But for the sake of argument, here's my list, generally created by how often I re-watch them on DVD or Blu-ray, except in the case of "Wall-E." I've seen that once and will again tonight, so that one I'm definitely enjoying a lot right now.

1. The Incredibles - I love comic books and Bob's got such a big heart for his family
2. Wall-E - So incredibly charming and the space scenes are wonderful
3. Toy Story 2 - Topped the original because it opens with Buzz in full space action and it includes the heartbreaking song for Jessie
4. Toy Story - Genuine magic
5. Monsters, Inc. - Reminds me of my goddaughter
6. Ratatouille - See, this one is great too! How can I make it ranked 6!?
7. Finding Nemo - This one I saw with my goddaughter's family
8. Cars - I thought this moved slow in the middle, even tho' that was the point of the story
9. A Bug's Life - At least with this one I'm comfortable with it being at the bottom

Everything after the first few likely to change dramatically day-to-day. The only solid being Ratatouille best (not only best Pixar but among the best of movies) and a bug's life being last.

So I know that this is about ranking the Pixar movies but I am just curious, and it was last on my list too, but why is A Bug's Life last on almost everyones list:eek::D!~

Mine was because I watch the others recently and havent gotten a chance to watch it!

so I'll just give my most & least favorite...
Most favorite: Toy Story 2
Least favorite: Cars...simply because I don't find automobiles all that interesting but I still enjoyed it, only not as much as the others.

I too am surprised that A Bug's Life is last so often! Here's my list, based mainly on how many times I am willing to watch it again!

1. Finding Nemo-- It was sooooo good the first time, and it has continued to be awesome every time I watch it!
2. Ratatouille
3. Toy Story 2-- a rare case of the sequel surpassing the original
4. A Bug's Life-- I happen to really like this movie, I'm surprised it is not as popular
5. Toy Story
6. Monster's Inc-- this one grew on me. I didn't like it much at first, but it got better with repeat viewings!
7. Cars-- I have only seen this once, and I have felt no strong compulsion to see it again. However, I did like it, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
8. The Incredibles-- same as Cars, only saw it once, with no inclination to see it again, although I did enjoy it the one time.
I suppose I should see them again to really compare. But on the other hand, all the other Pixar movies I wanted to see again right away. I saw Nemo five times in the theater and bought the DVD the day it came out! And I saw the others at least two to four times in the theater. So who knows?

We've had this discussion at home many times, most especially after the new movie comes out. It's getting harder and harder to be able to rank them. We, too, have always put Bug's Life last, but even at that bottom ranking it is still far better than a lot of other animated flicks. I think Bug's Life just doesn't hook your emotions like some of the others do, but it's still magical and fun.

Here's my ranking, and mine will likely change often, too.

1. Toy Story - I agree with Gone2Disneyland, it's pure magic. It also touched a nerve with me because as a kid I thought my toys came to life when I wasn't home. :geek: ;)
2. Toy Story 2 - Yes, more action and the like, a great film, but the original is still my favorite. I love old reliable Woody.
3. Monster's Inc - I love how they took the original childhood fear of a monster under the bed and put a twist on it.

The next few I will put in a rank order because of the theme of the thread, but in all truthfullness they rank so close together that they could change places and still be accutate.

4. Wall-E - The character of Wall-E is just so human like, and I felt a lot of emotion between he and Eve. Brilliant.
5. Finding Nemo - there's just so much warm sentiment in this movie, and strong family ties. And the ocean was animated so well.
6. Incredibles - again, strong family theme, and we like superhero movies in our house. And Frozone was just so cool! :cool:
7. Cars - I was pleasantly surprised. I expected not to like this because it was about Cars, but I love it.
8. Ratatouille - I loved the movie, but I felt a bit more emotion with some that are ranked higher.

The least favorite is Bug's Life, as I just don't feel the emotional connection with it as I do with some of the others. But it's still a great movie, and a 1000 times better than anything Disney has put out in their animation department in the last decade or more.

My favorite Pixar short has always been Geri's Game. That is pure brilliance, you almost believe it's two different people sitting there. ;)

OK I've already seen WALL-E so I'll add it to this list. Great list idea, by the way!

1. Ratatouille: In one word, stunning. A beautiful story about one's aspirations. Absolutely wonderful characters with so much charm and personality. Incredible "flavor" and grace, soars about normal storytelling. It really should've been nominated as a Best Picture, not just animation.

4. Cars: Surprisingly good! Great characters, cute story.
5. WALL-E: Beautiful, almost esoteric elegance during first half. Cinematic genius. Kind of falls short in second half.
6. Finding Nemo: Cute, but a bit too cutesy for me.
7. Incredibles: Again cute story and quite a bit of humor, but characters are not as endearing.
8. Monsters Inc.: Cute, funny story, but characters are not quite as endearing, and a bit too cartoony (if I can say that for a Pixar movie)
9. A Bug's Life: Cute, but characters not particularly endearing.

There is no way I can rank them. However, I will say that Bug's Life would be at the bottom for me too only because I haven't seen it since it came out. I wish Ratatouille would have a better DVD version though.

Because I am a geek and like to analyze things, I calculated the rankings for everyone who has seen Wall-E.

I used the standard method of first place getting 9 all the way to 9th getting one.

Interesting how Wall-E was first. I wonder if that is because people just saw it so it is clearer in their minds?

It is interesting the the Toy Story movies are lower in the list versus people who have seen Wall-E.

Clearly I'm on the fringe here . . .

1. The Incredibles: Because even though I own it, if it's on tv I have to watch it. It may actually be a perfect movie.

2. Toy Story 2: I just watched it again 2 days ago with my son and was blown away by how great it is, better even than the first. And the Jessie montage with Sarah McLachlan singing "When Somebody Loved Me" almost made me misty!

3.Toy Story: Started it all, it's gotta be high on the list.

4. Cars: I watched this in the room while my wife was in labor (I know, what a guy) and my son started coming as the end credits rolled. This one will always be special to me. I can even tolerate Larry The Cable Guy now!

5. Ratatouille: Just great, and had a new feel for Pixar. Got a little bogged down in itself in the 3rd act, but that ending with Peter O'Toole doing the narration is awesome.

6. Monsters Inc.: Fun. That's all I can say. And what big furry monster's heart doesn't melt when Boo says "Kitty . . "?

7. Bug's Life: I simply think this one ranks low on most lists because Pixar has gotten so good that this really good movie is overshadowed by some great movies.

8. Finding Nemo: I may be the only one in the world, but I don't like this movie. I'm not saying it's not a "good" movie. Maybe some of it is too good - the father losing son theme probably just resonated too strong with me, even before I had a son. I don't like watching it, even knowing there's a happy ending. (For the record I won't watch Bambi or Dumbo either!)

We have seen Wall-E but don't know where to place it yet. I am going to copy Mermaid and say that 3-6 are all tied :). It's hard for me to see Monsters and Bugs life so far down the list because we love them!

Isn't that just the truth? I hate to see Incredibles and Cars so far down my list, because I love them so much. I just love some of the others a tad more.

And I agree, who doesn't melt when Boo says, "Kitty!" :D
