Which special event party is best? I'm deciding on my vacation dates and want to include one party into my plans.

I can't really advise you as to which party to pick, as I don't attend those nights. I can say that if you do the Halloween event, you can also take part in the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, which is always fun. And of course at Christmas the parks and hotels are all decked out for the holidays, with special music, lights and fireworks shows all over. So I guess it just depends on which events you want to experience along with which MK party (which in my opinion aren't really that special).

It's hard to describe how very excited I am with the planning of this dream vacation! Of course, any party (whether it be the Mickey Halloween of the Mickey Christmas) will be fun to attend and I'm thrilled to be able to add a party into my 10-day vacation plans.

I haven't been to the christmas party, but do plan on going in November2008. I have been to the Halloween party and it was FANTASTIC!!!!!! My childern absolutly LOVED it. So if the Christmas is anything like halloween it will be great. In fact I think it may be better. I mean it is Christmas, and we are talking about Disney. I'm sure it will be loads of fun!!!

I have been to both. They are special in their own way. My son loved both of them. For Halloween the park is all decked out for Halloween with the theme carried thru for the parade and fireworks. There is trick or treating and the ability to walk on rides!!! It was sooo much fun we decided to try MVMCP on our next trip.

MVMCP is special in that again the MK is all decked out for the holidays! During the party you get to see the Christmas parade, ( which you cant see during the day unless you are there very close to Christmas) and special Christmas Fireworks. It snows on Main street, there are carolers, hot choc, cookies, and again walk on rides. Plus they have lots of Christmas shows, music and of course the lighting of the castle with those magnificent lights now. We are looking forward to that, we missed it by one night on our last trip, we only got to see pics that everyone posted here. It really is a magical night and worth every penny. Disney is all about magic, and there is nothing more magical than MK at night, then MK at night at Christmas!

I say whichever time of the year you decide to go, attend the party and have an awesome time! You won't regret it!

We also reccommend the Osbourne lights and the Candlelight proccessional if you go at Christmas time. Also to tour the different resorts to see their Christmas decorations and gingerbread houses.

Personally, I think MVMCP along with the other Christmas festivities throughout the parks and resorts make great package of activities.

By choosing the right vacation days, it's possible to attend both parties - the last Halloween date and the first Christmas date!

I agree with danyoung about October being great because of both MNSSH and the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. For that reason, I'd choose MNSSH. Plus the crowds are decent and the weather is fantastic in October.

I just read about the Candlelight Processional.

If I understand correctly, if we are on the DDP and eat at one of the WS restaurants, we get to see the CP for free...it will just cost us one credit for our meal? (and of course we notify the CM when making our ADR's)

Basically, yes, Mrs Grumpy.

However, each restaurant only has so many "CP Dining Packages" for each show. So I'd recommend making that reservation ASAP.

Also, there is no cost, even if you're not doing the Dining Plan to see CP. You just have to stand int he standby line, which, during busier times of the year, may mean you're in line during the first show, and MAY get into the third show. If you want to do the CP dining package and aren't on the dining plan, obviously there is a cost for the meal for that.

We got a CP dinner package the 1st day it was available. My friend, D2000lands was on hold for quite a while, hung up and tried again. He was able to secure our ressies for Teppan and CP, but I understand from others that it was a fast and furious booking.

Please do it asap, Mrs. Grumpy!!

This will be my first CP and I'm SO looking forward to it!

We went to the CP in 2005 and it was so awesome. It was really a great way to start the holiday season, so inspirational! We did the DDP for the CP at LE Cellier and it worked well. This time we called on the first day and got the Rose and Crown for Dec 9th for the 8:15 show. I like that it will be dark during the show, I think it adds to the beauty of it and makes it even more magical.

Try to make your reservations soon, so you get a table. You will enjoy this alot!!:D

Cathy, Tina, and Eileen,

THANKS so much for your respones. I won't be able to book my ADR's for about 11-1/2 more months or so, as I am planning early for December 2009. (I know- it's an illness---and I know most people here can relate! ;))

coronado_g,

I'm sorry that I derailed your thread. Have you made a decision yet as to which party you will be going too? Will you be able to do both? Best of luck and happy planning!:)
