I cant believe Im posting this, because I am one of the biggest Survivor freaks in the world, but I do think that Survivor is staling out. First off, the concept and plot of the show is still primarily good, it's just the casting is starting to really suck.
The great thing about Survivor: Palua Tiga was that it not only introduced the show but had a great first cast with people that would never stop strategizing. This was a one of a kind thing for them, so they didnt know what to do and everythng was a suprise.
Australian Outback was so increidble because of the people, all were a tad bit smarter than the first batch, but the people would never stop strategizing and every person in that show had personality.
Africa had the best cast with the worst location. If they stuck Africas cast in liek Tahiti, it would have been the best Survivor, but Africa was too brown to cut it. The cast was great though, even Diane (the first off) was wonderful and though we only knew her for about an hour, we all loved her and she even had a role in the show and plot after her with the whole Clarence thing.
Survivior: Marquesas was gorgeous, but the cast was a little too boring. The plot started off okay, but it's like the climax never reallly occured. In the beginning they had the whole strong Rotu, weak Maraamu, Rob and Sean thing... but it's like the whole Kathy, Neleh alliance got lucky and found a way to turn things around. Thus, the ending, and the Final Two, werent really all that great and I think it ended with a loud thud rather than a crisp bang.
Finally Thailand. Thailands location isnt all that great, and only some of the characters (Brian, Ghandia, Robb, Shii Ann, Tanya, Helen, Ken, Jed, Erin) are interesting, the rest are just a snooze fest. I really think, if Survivor's going to remain popular, they need better characters and casting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Survivor: Amazon (Survivor Six) and that the cast will be as great as Number Three or Number Two.
