View Full Version : Room suggestions at Best Western Park Place Inn?
beaver state rich 06-09-2008, 11:15 AM We are arriving on Sat the 14th will be at BWPPI for 7 nights. Any suggestions as to what rooms I should request-i.e. "avoid freeway side of HOJO's" etc.
Thanks, hope this place is going to be OK, the walk looks like it will be nice and short!
Man..can't concentrate on work this week
120 hours tell our flight leaves.
aznewsboy 06-09-2008, 11:36 AM We have stayed at BWPPI the last 3 years and have not encountered any horrible rooms. We even had a room next to the pool which wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be. The only thing I can think of which applies at most hotels is trying to be at the back so all that noise of guests returning after the parks close is at a minimum. That has been the biggest noise factor for us-people letting their kids be really loud coming back at midnight instead of walking past rooms respectfully. You'll have that problem no matter where you stay.
BTW, if for some reason the pool/spa is closed at BWPPI you are allowed to use the pools at the other BW properties. Hope this doesn't happen to you but it's a tip we learned last trip.
sandiegorob 06-09-2008, 11:53 AM I've found the rooms facing towards Captain Kidds (blech) to be much brighter than the other side - which I prefer.
beaver state rich 06-10-2008, 01:43 PM THANKS!!, I will ask for a room away from Harbor. 96 hours tell the plane takes off!!!!! My wife purchased a new video camera just to get our daughters reaction to telling her she is going to DL instead of dad going on another business trip.
FYI, I know Captain Kids has the worst rep for food. However, strictly speaking about the free bkfst is it O.K? All my family usually eats is a begal or cereal and I can't imagine someone could mess that up. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
amarvel 06-10-2008, 01:56 PM actually i disagree about being toward the back. you also have to think about how much more walking over the course of 7 days it will be to walk to the back of the hotel each and every time you go back and forth. we always ask for the closest room to habor. we got the room above the lobby that overlooks the park and it was awesome. its the room we ask for now. just a thought...
beaver state rich 06-11-2008, 12:39 PM Amarvel-Good point about the walking! At midnight every extra step not taken is a big deal. I will call the hotel and ask for a view of the park. 72 hours to go!!
kathynova 06-11-2008, 03:12 PM Also, if you plan on using their wireless internet, some areas of the hotel have better reception than others. If that's important to you, just ask them where the rooms with the best reception are. I would think the one above the lobby would be best! Enjoy!
MammaSilva 06-11-2008, 04:35 PM THANKS!!,

The breakfast is 'two part' ...you can do the free cont breakfast upstairs which is your basic no frills don't count on a bagel more like toast, coffee and punch drink passing as juice. the Second option is 'free pancake breakfast' but it includes NO drinks other than water... You're really better off going to a market and picking up a bit of breakfast foods for the room rather than going to the free one at Captain Kidds..your mileage may vary of course.
beaver state rich 06-11-2008, 07:08 PM Sack of begals it is!! Besides stopping for bkfst only slows us down. Best to get into the park pull my FP and ride 3 rides before the crowds wake up. I am a coffee snob (see other post) so a granola bar on the walk over works for me. I don't care about internet as I am leaving the laptop at home. I don't want work to be able to get to me.
Posts on this site and others make me very scared of CK to begin with so if all they have is toast and fake juice I will skip it... However, part of me wants to see how bad it really is-sort of the same instinct that makes one sniff the jug of milk after your buddy tells you it has gone bad:D
(My wife is reading this as I type, I have just been called an idiot for the last comment)
ChurroGirl 06-11-2008, 07:26 PM I have never stayed at BWPPI but have stayed just a few down at the BWAI. We love that one!! The costumer service is always superb and we like to stay on the ground floor, not sure if that is important to you either but if you call a few days ahead of time prob tomorrow I would say as you are leaving in 72hrs, just tell them you would like if possible a room on ground and typically they are very accomidating their number is 714-776-4800-->thats for the BWPPI. I have BWAI on my speed dial so I just called and asked. So for all you conviences there it is!!
Have fun and I must say, WHAY AMAZING PARENTS YOU ARE!!! Your daughter is going to love you both! I would bring tissues!:crying::D:p
Aurora2008 06-11-2008, 09:04 PM We stayed at BWPPI last Jan. and thought it was great. *Loved* being right at the crosswalk with two tired little ones on the way back at night. I didn't think the breakfast was too bad, either. It was just enough to get us going - your standard toast, bagels, cereals, danish. They also had hard boiled eggs which my kids loved.
I hope you have a wonderful trip! How fun for your daughter (and, of course, for her parents!)
beaver state rich 06-12-2008, 08:57 AM I have to say keeping a trip like this secret is VERY hard. I have been able to pack (I'm going on a business trip ;)) and we have been able to pack for my daughter as she is "going to grandmas" my poor wife has had to pack at night after bedtime and put the suitcase in the garage. This actually feels like Christmas Eve, putting the bike together at midnight etc. I have lost count how many times we have almost let the cat out of the bag with comments like "when we get home" or "after our trip..er DADS trip and YOUR trip to grandmas etc.
48 hours...
beaver state rich 06-12-2008, 08:59 AM Called Hotel, the desk agent said he will put us in a room that is quiet and still has a view of the park. We will see what this turns out to be.
Mshell 06-15-2008, 02:53 PM Okay I know your already there but maybe someone else will find this useful. When we went there last year we had a room with one double bed and a sofa sleeper (is that what it is called?). It was awful! The sofa sleeper was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on and I've slept on a lot of those things! So make sure you have a room with two double beds!
