Pay $40, buy block out ticket. Go to AP window, upgrade Select pass to Socal pass on blockout date for a Socal pass. Allowable or no?

That's what I thought, but then how are they going to get back and forth through the gates? Should I have them not upgrade until the very end of the day when they are done hopping? That way they have basically just had their blockout ticket all day, and at the very end of the day, they can "upgrade" it to a socal pass at the same price?

if it were me, I'd use the black out all day and just before leaving I'd upgrade, simply because with MY luck I'd get a new CM that didn't know the system.

OK, just called, and this is what the CM said: When you upgrade, you have to show your blockout ticket, but you don't have to surrender it. You continue to use the same blockout ticket for the remainder of the day, since the pass isn't going to do you any good that day anyway, and you have already paid for your legitimate right to be in the park on that day, via the blockout ticket. According to her, it does not matter when you upgrade.
