I recently booked a room through Expedia that met all the criteria I hoped for. Then, a few days later I read on Trip Advisor that this particular place ranks 94 out of 100! I realize it's only a place to crash for the night, but we will be staying there six nights. I think I'm stuck with it at this point but I would welcome comments from others on the importance or unimportantce(sp?)of such things. Our trip is scheduled for June29th-July 5th so I really don't think there's time to change motels. AND it IS very reasonable.

Suggestions?

Suggestions?I take Trip Advisor pretty seriously. I know I submit reviews. In the future, I would check Trip Advisor before committing.

I love Tripadvisor. The best is #1 Candy Cane Inn #2 is Double Tree Anaheim Resort #3 Aryes Anaheim ect.
I like the pics you can see that real people took of their rooms. That helps me pick hotels since I know the hotel pics can be missleading.

look at this map. It's close but too far (for us) with 2 small kids to walk it.

WOW that is kinda far, and I dont have any little ones! So where do you like to stay. We have flip flopped between Tropicana, Maingate Ramada, and Best Western, so far, Best Western is our fav.

We have been to Aryes (but you can't walk that). It was nice and had a big room.
The Carousel is nice and I thought it was a prefect location. The rooms were clean and the breakfast room was cool to watch fireworks. I thought the room was on the small side but it was updated and clean.

In Feb we staied at HoJos for 5 nights. Rooms were big and clean. Nice hotel with great pool area. The only thing is we have 2 kids in strollers and we would go back for naps and it was a lot of walking back and forth. If I could get the entertinment rate I would stay there every time because it's so worth it.

Tomorrow we are checking in at the Desert Inn and Suites in a Suite. I am a little worried since there is so many mixed reviews about this place. The main thing is our toddler still naps and she also gets up at 6 am and we wanted a place I could take her so she wouldn't wake my other daughter. I hope its decent, most of all clean. We didn't want to deal with ART or using our car so I hope it works out. :)

My MOH loves staying there. She is actually there right now. I just texted her how her room is right now, clean or not so much. she says its very clean and nice. She is impressed more this time than last. I guess thats a good sign for you. I hope its just as clean for you tomorrow! She said its really really busy though, just a heads up!

Its still number 2 to me compared to Carousel.

Let me give another shout out to tripadvisor.com The coolest feature is the photos that out people took of the hotel / room, they are really englightening. You get to see what a place really looks like, not just what the hotel wanted to post.

I take all review sites with a grain of salt. You look for trends, as with thousands of customers a year most business are liable to have some unhappy customers. If you got to yelp.com, a big online restaurant site, you can guarantee someone hated your favorite restaurant.

If the majority liked or disliked, that is what you look at, and for trends in WHAT they complained about.

I love yelp.com, I am a memeber for Phoenix. But I also leave reviews for Disney!! I agree with you twindaddy about the hatred thing. Tons of people bash Disney and the surrounding area, DTD for one and BB. But we all cant be happy can we!!!

So I decided I like TRIPADVISOR.COM sorry that was incaps! But I like that its different from hotels.com or what nots reviews on the hotels. Thanks to whoever mentioned that!!!

Check your fine print with Expedia. I have made reservations with Expedia and had to cancel and the only penalty was a charge of $25, IIRC. For peace of mind, it may be worth canceling your reservation with Expedia and booking with something more highly rated. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Don't know your version of reasonable. Anaheim Plaza is available for about $90 a night. Hojos and Tropicana are $135.

Could the Hotel be the Best Western Courtesy Inn? Last time I checked, it was rated 94 out of 100 on Trip Advisor. At least the place has free parking which is a plus in my book.

I love trip advisor. Of course you have to factor in that some people are never going to be pleased, and some people have never stayed anywhere else...but it is the general overall picture that it gives you that I love.

That ranking sounds really scary to me.

I like HoJo & Candy Cane in the more budget/moderate category.

Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate the varied opinions on this whole motel thing. The place we've booked is the Jolly Roger. I really liked the pictures posted online, but of course those are from the motel itself. The Trip Advisor comments were not entirely bad either. And by reasonable I mean $66 mid-week and $89 weekend.:D Trust me, if it wasn't this cheap we'd be camping in our tent which actually was our initial plan. Hey, we're on teacher's salary here!

P.S I'm really scared now that I've said the name of this place:(
