I was just adding up all of my expenses at WDW for the past 2 years & I realized that I could have bought a car for what I spent & will spend on our upcoming trip in Sept. :crying: That being said, I would not trade "the Magic" for anything even though I need a new car in the worst way. :)

How about you? What have you sacrificed or would you give up for a trip to the happiest place on earth?

Three years ago, I cashed in a bunch of savings bonds and took some family members for a trip. For what I paid, for two rooms, passes and meals for eight, and plane tickets, I could have put down a big down payment on DVC points, and we could have stayed in a two-bedroom villa. Two years later, I cashed in some more bonds, and did just that.

We're building a house and should be moving into it in the next month. My new furniture has just turned into a Disney trip! I need to get away so at this point I don't care!:p

In our 3 years as seasonal AP holders we probably spent the price of a small car too- and that's going off-peak, staying with AP/FL resident discounts, driving, and not buying any souveniers (we did average 1 TS meal/day and did quite a few signature restaurants and kids in kids clubs nights)

We went eight times between June '06 and December '07. I don't even want to do the math...

We bout nearly 12,000 miles on our car as well taking the 22 hour round trip drive. UGH!

Any yet, we'll keep doing it, won't we. Happiness is so much more valuable than money. The hardest thing for me is to take non-Disney vacations, although I try to force myself every other year. This year counts as an "off" year, even though we are going to DL. Why? Because we're driving north to see the Redwood Forest and do a few things in San Fran -- I mean, as long as we were in the area, why not go to DL?

Review the post in the administration forum that's about avatars and popups. It's a new advertising thing that's being tested.

Personally I think it's horrible. One of the reasons I like this site is because the advertising is in manageable proportions...

I'm with you scooby on the red marks, they are very distracting. The flashy things are bad enough:mad: but now they add more junk to distract us.

Well, I'll get off my soapbox and back to the original discussion, yeah, thats where my new furniture went, & my new pool & my new roof, vinlyl siding, windows etc. etc. etc. ....you get the idea:rolleyes: That being said again, I would not trade the memories we have made & will make in the past 2 years for anything:) I just wish that we had taken our 1st trip sooner.

Last 2 trips equal 12 thousand here....we used credit for most of it and we decided no more credit so we are postponing our next wdw adventure till maybe the end of 2009.We wanted to go this dec.but we are waiting and my son will be older to enjoy it more...last 2 years he was quite the challenge for us to deal with:(

That's us, too!
(If we were smart, we wouldn've bought into DVC 5 yrs ago...but 5 yrs. ago we thought we'd be doing WDW once, maybe twice! )
anywho - I try to make sure we do WDW every other year, doing WDW on the other years

We discussed not taking our planned Oct/Nov trip because of the economy. But I told my husband my sanity could not take it. I have a feeling most of it is going to wind up on credit. At least the tickets (AP) and airfare is already paid in full.
