SO those who have travelled to the south entrance of MCO---what is traffic like in the afternoon? I need to be at the airport around 530p on a Tuesday (from Disney)--should I take 417 or just stay with I-4 and what time would you leave???

I've never seen any type of backup on 417 at any time of day. You have to stop to pay 2 $1 tolls, but that's totally worth it for me.

Flight at 5:30pm? I'd want to be turning in my car by 4pm, so I'd leave the World around 3:30pm.

I would ALWAYS do the toll road. Fast and easy. Just budget the tolls in--TAKE QUARTERS!!!!!! LOTS OF QUARTERS!!!!! Exits are cash only, I believe.

If you stay on the toll road to the airport exit, you'll hit two toll booths, both of which are manned. So you can pay in dollar bills easily.

One time when I got ON the toll road when I was by myself (pre DME), it was exact change only. I would have been staying at Pop, so maybe it's just that one entrance that's like that (but I did have to deal with the people ahead of me not having enough change...

I can see where that would be a problem. If you go out the north WDW exit (state highway 528) and head for the airport, then you only get those two plazas that are both manned. But have a few quarters ready, just in case!
