what is your favorite souvener or wished you had bought? What was a total waste of money?

OK. I'm not really a souvenirs type of guy, but I can tell you what was a total waste of money. During my most recent visit to the parks, I puchased a red hat(baseball cap style) with a white "D" on it. My name being Daniel, it was perfect for me, and I was enjoing it while roaming DCA. Well, during my second ride on CA. Srceamin I decide to put it(the hat) back on, on the last turn. This was no problem the first time around (I put it back on at the end of the ride and it stayed on my head just fine), however I was not sitting in the front until the second time on the attraction! Needless to say, due to stonger wind-in-face-force(wiff) while in the front, I no longer own that $22.00 hat. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I reported it to lost and found, but never got a response. I have a feeling that someone else is enjoying my/their hat. :)

My favorite thing are my MM Ears. I have my first set when Disneyland had their 25th Anniversary. I made it a point to go to the 50th Anniversary and got those as well.

When I went in 2005, I had wished I had gotten the fab five with the 50th Anniversary outfits on. So when we went in 2006 I made sure to get them.

I don't think I bought anything I wished I hadn't.

My zip up hoodie jacket that says Mickey 55 on it! It is actually a guys jacket but I love it and wear it all the time!

The worst? My son bought a small plastic monorail and it broke not two days later! What a waste.

My favorite is my Mickey kitchen stuff- ice cream scoop, oven mitts etc. The absolute worst are the key chains, cell phone charms and that kind of stuff. It all has broken within 6 weeks.

I absolutely love my 50th ears. They are the glittery gold ones on the headband and I'm so glad that I got them. They accompany me on every trip we take.

Our staple souvenir tends to be a scrapbook album/photo album. We get a different one every year and they are always put to great use.

I don't think we've bought a souvenir that I can call an absolute waste. We only get stuff that we really love and know that we will use.

We always get a Christmas ornament not only for our Disney trips but anytime we travel. It is nice to reflect on the trips we have taken and the fun we have had when we put each ornament on the tree every year at Christmas time.

In September we bought our DS a pirate gun and believe me he is not hard on his toys at all but it broke only after a few days. He had fun with it while it worked so not a complete loss but certainly not a GREAT buy!

We always buy coffee mugs with the year on it. We have a collection with two from every year since 2003. I wish we would have picked some up at Disneyland Paris the year before but we were afraid they'd break on the trip home!

We also usually buy a Christmas ornament with the year if they're available.

We also buy an ornament each year. Not each trip, each year. We do this other places we go too. I also really like my antenna balls and license plate holders. Another of my favorites is my castle frame that has about 8 spots in it. And one thing that I started getting is a charm bracelet. I really wish I had gotten it at WDW, but I didn't. I have always wanted one but always restrained myself because it is a little expensive to get it going. Two trips ago I finally had some extra money and went for it. Now I have enough on it that I can just buy one a trip and that will be fine. I'm also having a friend of mine get me one next month from the World of Disney Store in NYC. I'm hoping they have something really cool like a Statue of Liberty with MM ears :p. I would have to say that if it is something that you enjoy then it is a good purchase. I can't think of anything that was a waste. I'm sure there is, but I can't think of anything.

I loved my tigger "stained glass" keychain I got a few years back. That thing lasted through some serious abuse on my keys! lol

I will say that when I read the title of this thread I thought it said "souviners: what'd you bring me" which made me lol

I only buy any unusual or unique (since my last visit) T shirts or perhaps a new sweatshirt. Any new books on Walt Disney or on DL or WDW history are also a possibility.

I try to get a Tshirt also from the hotel/ resort I'm staying in (recent acquisitions...shirts from the Grand Californian, Polynesian & Boardwalk resorts.

I buy the rediculously large coffee mugs! I'm going to have to think of something else if they don't make them with other characters soon. I have all of them except for Stitch.

Photos are always my souvenirs. I buy the ride pictures and the obligatory castle pose. I usually buy a photo album from the park as well to put all of the pictures that I take in it. I try to refrain from buying any clothing, but on my last trip I bought the cutest sweatshirt and justified it as a birthday present for myself!

My sister always buys an Christmas ornament when she goes, and we always get something for my mother from the crystal shop.

The best toy my kids ever got was a IASW bathtub boat with five little people in costumes from around the world. Its six years old now, and the kids still love it.

When our oldest first started going, we got a small beanie stuffed character for every trip. There's a few odd ones we never got, but by they time the kids outgrew the beanines, they were ready for pin trading. Pins are small and inexpensive as far as souvineers go.

We buy waaaay too many - but our "must buys" are:

I buy at least one pin a day - always one with the month/year I am there on it.

Mug with the year on it.

A cookbook if they have one I don't have already...

An absurd amount of candy & cookies.

Something from the Indy Store & something SW from Star Trader.

I get a photo album with year on it, take a gross amount of photos, print/develop them the very day I get back and stuff my photo album right away, and look at it every day until I get to walk down Main Street again.

Best Souvener ever .. winning the tomorrowland castle crown from the 50th

My fav. thing I brought home was my cursed coin ring POTC love it! I have worn it soo much I had a jeweler friend of mine gold plate it for me, because I wore off the oringinal finish!
My pirate teria!LOL Wear it when I feel glum!
The kids love the pins and we have a large pressed penny collec.
Pirates pistols and painted parisols for Boo and Grr.

Don't like the really cheep key chains they break too easy. Or any thing you can't replace the batteries on.

My favorite thing was something DH got me as a surprise when we went 3 years ago. We were staying at the Grand Californian and he bought a GC robe and (at the suggestion of the concierge) had my name embroidered on it at one of the Main Street shops.

The only other souvenir I truly use on a regular basis is the Disneyland calendar. We also get our DDs photobooks each visit so they have their own book that they don't have to share.

Well, on our trip in '06, I wished I'd bought the golden 50 antennae topper- so I ended up buying it about 6 mos ago off ebay. :fez: And I'd also wished I'd bought a sweatshirt with the year on it that I went. I DID buy a Minnie Mouse zip-up hoodie, which I loved, but it has really shrank a lot in just 2 years. It was an XL women's and now it's about a Sm. DD was just a month shy of 3 at the time, and she got a remote control Robot Pluto that she played with quite a bit until we gave it away before Christmas last year, and an adorable tee shirt and sweatshirt combination. She still wears the sweatshirt, and lost the tee shirt. It has Minnie Mouse on it.

I'd also regretted not buying a year pin- but I got that on ebay about a month ago, so took care of that! :~D

The tee shirt I got, I loved, but had to treat it like a baby to keep it from shrinking or staining. I'll avoid that next time, I've given up that kind of care for it now and it's really pretty beat up. :crying:

I always check the Crystal Shop on Main Street. They have some of the most unique Disney jewelry. I treat myself with something from there, or I add to my Disney watch collection from the watch shop on Main Street. Those are items that I can enjoy everyday. A little pricey, but I figure I'd spend as much on several "throw away" souveniers, so I pass on those and go for the wearable jewelry! Well...I don't pass on the other stuff completely, I gather those items from the Character Outlet Warehouse!

Lasy year, it was something from the Buzz Lightyear store. It is a die cast version of the car you sit on in the ride with Buzz in it. I also have a Fast Pass with it that we were not able to use.

I keep the maps for each park because I put them up in my cube.

On the way home, I have one of those jawbreaker on a stick things you can get.

Next week, my goal is to find a nice sweatshirt.

Keeping a tradition that my dad started, I get a watch at New Century Timepieces on Main St. I have to get fudge to take home, if they have a new zip-up sweatshirt I don't already have I gotta get it. Around Christmas I gotta get an ornament. Pins I don't count as souvenirs because I buy those all year long.

Regrets have been certain tees I thought I would like that once I got home were oppsies. Buying skinny tees without realizing they made such a thing (now I look at the width not just the size). Unfortunately I think that's all the regrets, I've got curio cabinets filled with treasured tourist trinkets.

We love our beach towels. Every year we bring home two. I think they are around $20, and IMO, worth it. They are big. lush, and wash up nicely.

Our girls enjoy smashing the pennies, and it's enjoyable examining them all later. My youngest, 7, took her collection (we get them all over) for "sharing" at school today.

We always get a photo album for our memories.

My biggest regrets are always my tees! I'm a petite person, but they always shrink up too short for me. My daughters end up wearing them as nightshirts.

Oh, and my most pathetic (yet most loved) souvenir is the large suitcase (with the DL emblem) that we had to purchase one year to hold all the momentos we had bought on that trip. We've toned it down since then ;).

From my last trip a few weeks ago - my fav souvenirs are two bling pins - the castle and Cinderella's carriage. I'm slowly becoming a pin collector - I have them on my bulletin board in my cubicle at work. I also found the big poster map of the park this trip - in the shop in toontown, right next to the camera counter. And a cute plastic glass. They have some reusable bags now - but they're a bit pricey at $6.

Ooh, I forgot about this! This is my favorite souvenir from our trip two summers ago. It's such a fantasic map and a great, unique (and quite cheap) souvenir. For my birthday last year, DF had it matted and framed and it looks fantastic!
