I think I will just do my trip report as our favorite highlights, since we really tried to have a relaxing trip. My boyfriend and I decided to take one last weekend trip before our AP's expire in June. Our stay got extended as you can see lol.
We really tried to do things this trip that we haven't done in awhile or not at all since we aren't going back until Christmas. (We are still trying to convince ourselves of a weekend trip before to see all the Indy summer goodies hehe)
We left about 8am on Sunday (11th) from the Bay Area, and had a pretty smooth drive on I-5 all the way to the hotel. This was our first stay in the Tropicana, and surprisingly they had the room ready at 2. We had a first floor room with 2 queens. The room was clean and when we didn't need housekeeping they always called and left a message on the room phone to call if we needed anything. Our friends went to the continental breakfast which they said was alright, but they actual make you pay for a lot of things. All in all, we would stay again for the web special we got.
Anywhoo, this was our first trip meeting up with friends in DL. Usually it is just me and Eric, but we had a lot of fun. Our 2 friends have a huge family and came down with their son (3 yrs old) niece (3), mother & father in-law and sister in-law and her 4 quads (1). It was interesting to say the least lol, but seeing as Eric and I don't have big families, we had a lot of fun.
Ok, ok back to the highlights :p
~We stopped and watched the fireworks and Fantasmic! for the first time in awhile. They were awesome, especially Fantasmic, which seemed a lot brighter to me.
~We ate at Storyteller's for breakfast, oh man was it good! We did the buffet, and I swear it was the best made-to-order omelette I've had! I got just ham and cheese, mm good. They had a good buffet and quite a few characters came and said hi to the kids.
~We visited Tom Sawyers Island since the pirates came over. Its pretty cool! I loved trying to squeeze through the caves and finding hidden stuff or scenes inside of them. And we actually got a decent pic of Jack Sparrow w/ not a lot of people around.
~I finally went on the Sunwheel!! I am not a fan of heights and decided to try it. We went on non-swinging of course, and got some awesome pictures, including a little peek of Mr. Potato Head's ear...we are excited by the little things.
~Pixar Play Parade wad a lot of fun, and on a hot day the water squirting at you is welcome. I thought the performers we're really interactive, the kids got a kick out of it, esp. the Finding Nemo umbrella performers that would "swim" the fish into the kids hehe.
~OH! I almost forgot, I finally finally went and saw Aladdin, and I have to saw I wish I wouldn't have blown it off all these times, it will be a regular on our list now. the performers were great and I liked the little effects they had to make the show run.
~We stopped and watched them make these marshmallow-chocolate pies on Main St., like really stopped and watched the process, which is neat. You can't really do that anywhere anymore.
~I should mention we are total foodies! We tried a lot of new foods in the park we hadn't before. One thing that sticks out is the cinnamon latte at the Market house, it was like drinking a snickerdoodle! and it was comforting on the one cold, drizzly day of our trip.
We were supposed to leave on Wednesday, but had so much fun with our friends we figured, hey this is our last trip for awhile, lets worry about things later and have a few extra days with our friends. The Tropicana was pretty acomodating, we just had to change rooms. Our drive home was filled with traffic, but we expected that on a Friday, and pulled into Pleasant Hill about 1.30am.
So that was pretty much our highlights, its not much of a trip report, kinda random, but I love having a place to share them!
