Can someone tell me what the Flag Retreat Ceremony is? What happens? Where does it occur and at what time?
Is it emotional? Why?

Thanks!

Simple enough, the flag retreat ceremony is a little fuss they make when they take the flag down at the end of each day at Disneyland. Music and marching, that kind of thing.

If you get verklempt at an Independance Day Celebration or anything like that, it will have you teary-eyed.

It's different each day and sometimes they choose a couple kids to participate -- a dream experience.

It isn't something you have to show up really early for or anything like that. No big crowds. But it is a nice well done Disney special touch. Part of the magic that makes Disney!

It is about 4:30 PM at Disneyland.....
We took my FIL last Sunday, knowing he would be able to participate as he served in the Marines in the Korean War. He was the eldest of all the veterans honored, the people running the ceremony were very kind to him, and he received a very special salute from them. We all were very emotional after all of this.
Two young girls were chosen to participate in the ceremony, and they saluted him as well....I made sure to give them a couple of Disney Pins:)
It was a very special way for my my in-laws to end the day.
