Hi! My DH and I will be participating in this year's 1/2 marathon at DL, This will be his first ever road race!! I used to do alot of running...back in the last century (but seriously, not since 1996). Our goal is to finish around 2:50. It's not fast, but we are really just looking to finish this time around.

I was just wondering if anyone else around here would be running this August as well? :)

I am! I haven't started training yet. After the Las Vegas marathon last year, I haven't done much training. I better get on the ball!

Oh cool, you're in Vegas? :) Howdy neighbor (sort of)! Well now that it's finally going to hit triple digits (today) I think our training will be more focused on keeping hydrated more than anything else!

(I was reading in the paper about the LV 1/2 marathon...doesn't look like a race will be happening this year! Hope they are able to work that mess out!)

I'll be there. :) I did my first half marathon this past February (Surf City USA Half Marathon) and I'm looking forward to seeing how much I can improve between the two.

I'm also volunteering at the Expo Saturday so maybe I'll see some of you there!

I know, I was reading in the paper how much trouble Devine is in with money. I heard last year's marathon almost did not go on because of permits and such. Too bad.
The heat today was horrible. Looks like the treadmill is going to be getting a workout unless I can hit the training runs early on Sunday! Good luck!

Just finally decided to sign up again. I didn't enjoy the experience on the course last year (too damn HOT!), but loved it the first year (when it was held mid-September). My friends who've already signed up have been nagging me off and on this year to collect a set of three medals before quitting. After going back to running lately to check the ol' body out, I realized I might have one more 1/2 marathon left in me.

Edit to add: I forgot to mention I also signed up for a 5k and a 10k, both in the warm summer month of July, to add to my training and ramp up to the 1/2 marathon. I gotta say this more to motivate myself than to let you all know. :p
