So, is this worth the extra money? It would be almost $100 for two of us to go.

View Full Version : Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party - Worth the $? Calangelo 05-16-2008, 05:42 AM So, is this worth the extra money? It would be almost $100 for two of us to go. wishiwasthere 05-16-2008, 07:34 AM Yes! It is so much fun! The parade is phenomenal! We received our trick-or-treating bags and as soon as my dad saw a candy station he said "Candy station! Let's go!" It was like he was a kid again! It was a blast and it is definitely something you cannot miss. The fireworks were alright, but we also had crummy seats so we plan on finding something better this year. stan4d_steph 05-19-2008, 05:11 AM Absolutely. I had a great time last year. There's so much to do that there's no possible way to do everything, so go in with a plan of attack and focus on what you would like to do most -- rides, character greeting, shows, candy, and then go from there. Make sure you get in a trip on Haunted Mansion though. They had some great "dead" entertainment over there. danyoung 05-19-2008, 10:21 AM So, is this worth the extra money? It would be almost $100 for two of us to go. Wait - are tickets to the party $50 each? That seems high! Calangelo 05-21-2008, 08:09 PM Wait - are tickets to the party $50 each? That seems high! Yes, the advance purchase price for the dates we'll be there are $48.94 with tax! I think we're gonna go for it though! wishiwasthere 05-22-2008, 08:55 PM Mine for Halloween night was $60! tdelaney_98 05-29-2008, 07:24 PM I was a COMPLETE skeptic. Seemed like a lot of money for a one-night deal. However, it was absolutely wonderful. Had a great, great time. Fabulous parade and fireworks. Characters were fun. Pirate Girl 06-13-2008, 07:25 AM Yes yes yes! If for no other reason than the park is much less crowded during parties. But the party is a blast! Wear a costume, it's fun! steamboatpookster 06-13-2008, 06:54 PM I'm going to dissent on this one. NOT worth the extra money. If you want to spend the extra cash to see the parade and get a few treats, go ahead. You can probably find a video of the parade on Youtube. I didn't find the wait times for the rides to be much shorter. I think the Christmas party is much better. So, in my opinion, not worth the extra cash. kadiehl 06-16-2008, 06:00 PM These parties are so worth it. I would do the Halloween party again for sure. Back in 2004 we went for Halloween Weekend just to do the party and we went on Halloween Night and it was the best. We did dress up too. We have also done the MVMCP so I would say that any of the ticketed parties are 100% for sure worth it. My friend did go to the Pirate and Princess party a couple weeks ago and she said it was awesome. So if you have a chance to do one of the parties...as you are able to this time...go for it. You won't regret it. eyenjeff 06-22-2008, 06:49 PM Another vote for absolutely YES! Worth every penny! rkutchuk 07-14-2008, 05:47 AM Is this event worth the money? I have an 11 year old daughter and we are looking for different things to do at Disney on our upcoming September trip. Is this something she would like or is it geared toward younger guests? Also, do adults dress up at this event too? Drince88 07-14-2008, 05:55 AM rkutchuk, I merged your thread with a recent one on the topic. I'd say about 30% of the adults are dressed in some sort of costume, but some (like me) are in costumes that look like regular clothes (I was a Millionaire Mourner a couple years back after they closed down Millionaire - in a Millionaire polo, hat, lanyard, with black bands on my arm, hat and lanyard card thing - but nobody 'got it') disneygirl17 07-14-2008, 07:25 AM I'm going to dissent on this one. I have heard most of the parties are worth the extra cash. I am really glad you said you liked the Christmas party, we are going in December and I can't wait. I keep telling myself that the extra $50 is worth it. We are also on AKL countdown. :) Parktowne 07-14-2008, 08:12 AM I would have to agree that it is definitely worth the money. I have been for several years and we love it - some trips we have even done it twice:) There are defineity adults dressed as well as almost all of the kids. You have to do the Haunted Mansion - they really get into the SPIRIT! I love the parade - Boo to You:) and the fireworks. Candy is okay (we liked the beads they gave away at the Pirate and Princess party better). We have found the lines to be very short. hollykrehel 08-07-2008, 11:39 AM I just found out that they will be having the first date on my last night (9/5)at the parks...I was wondering if anyone thinks if this would be a good way to end our trip...also, if we do decide to not go, is Magic Kingdom closed to us during the party? What time would the events start? Also, will the pumpkin decorations be up for that date seeing as it is nearly two months until Halloween? bellefan 08-07-2008, 01:34 PM I am another YES vote for this party - I love it! I've been twice and last year I went on the very last night - big score! They were trying to give away all the candy and would fill our bags to the top at every stop. They even rolled out cartons at the front entrance at the end of the night to get rid of it. As an adult, I have dressed up the 2 times I've been and its fun to see how everyone dresses up. I love the fireworks show and parade and special villians come out that are usually hard to find. The park will close early on the night of parties so if you don't have a ticket, you will be required to leave when the party starts. The Haunted Mansion is a MUST SEE and we even caught a little unknown Cast Member spooking the riverboat. Big thumbs up! Rockchalker 08-07-2008, 08:04 PM I personally liked the Pirates and Princess Party better because I enjoyed my daughter getting to meet Captain Jack. However, MNSSHP is a lot of fun!!! I love the costumes the characters wear. hollykrehel 08-08-2008, 07:49 AM So I just ordered tickets for the 9/5 party :) I'm psyched but have a couple questions...I was told two different starting times, 7 and 9, which is it? Also, is the starting time when everyone else gets kicked out or does that happen earlier? Where do I go to redeem my hard tickets for the bracelet? Do I do this the day of or can I get it when I visit the parks earlier in the week? Are there halloween and fall/pumpkin decorations up? I would love to take pics of that! Do the parade and the fireworks overlap, the woman on the phone sounded very confused about what she was reading (she was new). Thanks in advance! Drince88 08-08-2008, 08:03 AM Based on the years I've gone (since with Disney, everything is subject to change, and they do make tweaks from year to year) -- the party starts at 7. There is a 'park closing time', and if you look at the WDW calendar, it'll tell you what that is, and that's when they start sweeping the park. If you arrive in the park after 4, you shouldn't need to use regular park admission (that's been the policy in the past), and you should be able to get your wrist bands, schedule, and goody bags at the gate. If you're already in the park, there will be places with signs scattered around the park - at a minimum in the hub and by the front gate. Usually the schedule is parade-round1, fireworks, parade-round2 (same parade). I strongly encourage adults to essentially skip the first parade, watch the fireworks, and then do the second parade in full. The 'esentially' is that if you're anywhere near the parade route, try to catch the headless horseman galloping down the parade route for both parades. And if you would do us a great favor, when you get back, post the party schedule? That wll help people going to later ones plan a little more (if they're so inclined). I'm also curious to hear if they bring the special entertainment back to the Mark Twain. They had it for the first party I went to, but then the boat was in dry dock for a long time, so I think they missed 2 years due to that, and it never came back. And it should be fully decorated. What's a party without decorations? There's usually a cute jack-o-lantern at the entrance to Toon Town that's a nice photo op! hollykrehel 08-08-2008, 09:59 AM Thanks for all the info :) I'm planning a more detailed itinerary now and it's nice to know when I should expect to arrive :) I will definitely post the party schedule and if any one wants it I will scan the actual schedule for people to see! And if I am up to it, I may attempt to write a trip report so full details will be there! hollykrehel 08-08-2008, 11:42 AM Has anyone ever been to this the first day or early on in September, I have been reading reviews of this event for over an hour and almost everyone is in mid to late october! Just curious what the crowd level will be like... tappenfeat 08-09-2008, 12:13 PM Oh it is worth it! We have been to both Christmas and Halloween parties and they are a bit similar, but not. Both parades were amazing!!! The candy lines were fun, the lines were not bad at all...we timed going on the more popular rides during one of the parades. If you want to get a good spot to see the parade, wait for the 2nd parade. You will get a much better spot. People tend to want to watch the first one. I loved how the park took a whole new transformation for the Halloween party. The family all dressed up and our girls were stopped by two CM's because they said, "Tinkerbell said she LOVED your costumes...and she wants you and your family to have FREE icecream!" (our girls were dressed as pixies) It was an amazing night and we stayed all the way until closing. We were exhausted, but slept in the next day. Have fun!!!!!! :fez: |
