Hello, I am coming out 10/7/08 and leaving 10/14/08 and I wanted to go to universal studios and blizzard beach as well as the Disney theme parks. I am going to book my whole hotel stay at one of the value resorts at Disney. But I do not want to rent a car to get around so if anyone could give me some options. I know that in Disneyland resort in Anaheim if you buy a universal studios ticket they will pick you up for free from Disneyland and take you out to there park so I was hoping for something like that. If there is no transportation if anyone has any clue on how much a taxi would cost I would be greatful. Thank you for your time and wish me luck!

Well, your options include cabs and/or public transit. Cabs are going to be somewhat expensive and the buses (which you can pick up from the TTC) are going to take you a long while in getting from point A to point B.

Is there a reason why you dont want to rent a car? In doing what you want to do, it will really be your best bet. The nice thing is that you can pick it up from either the Swan or Dolphin (cant remember which) or the car care center and just rent for the days that you want to go off property. It will be a better value, if not cheaper, in the long run.

Well Blizzard Beach is a Disney Park so there will be no problem getting a bus to/from there.

I'd also suggest re-thinking a car. Universal is at least a 20 minute drive from WDW.

Taxi fare would be in the $30-$35 dollar range each way (plus tips) from the All Stars area if WDW to USF.

Blizzard Beach is a Disney property so there is free bus transportation.

If this is your first visit to Orlando you are probably much better off just going to WDW. You will really have a difficult time to do all four Disney Theme Parks in a week, even if you are used to Disneyland. And to do the two Universal Parks you need to allow at least three days.

I am going in Sept and staying at a value resort as well, with a day trip to Universal. I am planning on renting a car just for the day that we do that. It's the route I recommend as well based on the research I've done. I've heard about a company called Mears that do Universal tranportation from WDW resorts, but I think a car is the best best. It should also be a better deal that multiple bus tickets.

I just did a bunch of research last night and Alamo and National have rental cars available on-site at WDW at a centeralized location. So, you can rent a car for a day or two and not have to pay for the whole stay. If you check with the front desk, 24 hours prior (but no less than 30 mins prior), they will come pick you up and take you to the car rental place. Seems fairly simple... keeping my fingers crossed!

you can use the mears shuttle to get to universal studios from WDW and a bunch of the other places - it's very reasonable and no hassle.

Just thought I would chime in with my recent experience. We rented a car for our entire stay. We had one off-site day trip. I used a total of $9.00 worth of gas the entire time we were there. I would suggest just renting a car for the day of the off-site trip. Alamo picked me up and took me to pick up the car and delivered me back to the resort the day I returned the car. It was painless. I really didn't need the car for any other day besides the one off-site day. Have fun!

If you rent a car there is the cost of that, plus gas, plus parking at Universal. Is that correct? Isn't that more money than Mears which is ~15$ for both there and back?

We went to Universal last week and parking is up to $12 a day, so anyone considering rental versus Mears should figure that into the equation.
