View Full Version : Too Late To Upgrade 2fer?
cynthia312 05-13-2008, 11:57 PM I used up my 2fer for Disneyland park on April 18th. I still haven't gone to DCA yet. I understand that you can only go to one park one day.
When I go to my DCA trip is there a way to upgrade my 2fer so I can get into Disneyland park again? I know you have to pay but how much? And if it isn't too late to do all this...where and how?
Thanks in advance!

Your 2fer expires this Sunday. In order to upgrade, you could get an AP, and then be able to go to DL/DCA for the rest of the year, expiring April 17th, 2009. You would need to pay the AP cost, minus the $66 you already paid for the 2fer (assuming that's what you paid. If not, substitute the correct amount).
It is possible that you could also upgrade to a multi-day parkhopper, but I'm not sure (someone else should be along soon to weigh in on that). If you are at all able to come back in the next year, I would try the AP option.
hayjennn 05-14-2008, 09:14 AM another quick question, does disney pro-rate your upgrade? Our AP's expire in mid June, we are going before they expire. I was curious if I wanted to upgrade to the Premium AP would they just charge at a pro-rated amount or for the entire upgrade from a deluxe AP? Reason I ask is I am trying to get out of paying the fee to go in on a blocked out day. The passes expire on 6/25 and we will be there on 6/14. I think the blocked out day fee is $30 or $40. I understand you can apply that fee towards your upgrade, but wasn't sure how they determined the upgrade fee. (If they charge the whole year or not) And before you ask, no my hubby isn't going to let me get passes for the next year. He seems to think driving down from Northern CA 4 times this past year is enough. He is so silly, we all know it is never enough.
Malcon10t 05-14-2008, 09:36 AM No, no prorating. I would just get the $40 block out pass.
hayjennn 05-14-2008, 09:39 AM Darn....
Thanks Malcon
Darkbeer 05-14-2008, 01:06 PM A couple of comments, there is a special 2 Day for the price of 1 ParkHopper that is only available for SoCal guests, you should be able to upgrade the 2fer to the 2Day ParkHopper for $25 more, and then use the second and last day at Disneyland, or if you want some time in both parks. But you need to do it on or before May 19th.
The 2fer and 2 day for 1 ParkHoppers last day for first use is May 22nd, for anyone still looking to buy one. Don't forget, you need proof of living in Southern California (or Baja California, Mexico).
And while it won't work for the jen in the above post, it is worth mentioning.
You can renew anytime within 30 days fo your current expiration date, so in the abouve example, in mid-May you could have renewed to a Premium AP. This allows you to get your $20 renewal discount, and in effect, 13 months of a Premium AP at no extra charge. (if renewing from a Deluxe, and do it early in the renewal period). But if you are not looking to purchase a new AP, this is not the way to go.

Not to threadjack, but I had this specific question. Say my PAP expires May 1, but I don't renew till May 30, I still get the $20 discount, but I am just not able to visit the parks from May 2-May 29. Is this correct?

Yes, and no...
The Official policy is that you need to renew on or PRIOR to the expiration date to get the $20 discount.
But sometimes the CM's at the Bank of Main Street MIGHT let you get the $20 discount for a few days after the expiration date, but will prorate the AP to expire on May 1st (using the example).
But let's look at the price options...
A NEW Premium AP is $379
A renewal Premium AP is $359
So "simple" math has the AP worth about $1 a day.
Since you are not planning to go for about 30 days, Don't Renew, and get a new AP that would expire May 30th.
The actual math has the first visit of expiration of a Premium AP at more than 20 days from the expiration date.
Don't forget, if you pay to park, bring your parking receipt to the booth, they will be happy to apply the cost towards any AP that includes parking. (Only one day, and on the date printed on the receipt).
HisKid1 05-14-2008, 04:51 PM Of course, this assumes that I can bear to keep myself out of the DLR for 30 days in a ROW! :D
hayjennn 05-14-2008, 05:34 PM How much is it to add parking to your AP?
Matterhorn Yodeler 05-14-2008, 05:50 PM How much is it to add parking to your AP?
Currently $59, unless that too is going up. If you park in Mickey & Friends, bring your receipt to the Bank on the day you add parking to your AP and they will credit you the cost.
Darkbeer 05-14-2008, 05:50 PM How much is it to add parking to your AP?
Parking is $59 extra for the Deluxe, and both SoCal AP's. Note, the Parking pass is only valid on the dates that your AP is not blocked out.
hayjennn 05-15-2008, 09:15 PM Didn't realize they would block out your parking pass as well. Nice to know.
