Hello,
My daughter and I are visiting DLR in July and have reservations for 5 nights at the Candy Cane Inn. Everything is all set but now I'm starting to wonder if it would worth it to stay on property at Paradise Pier or Dland hotel. I have a little extra $ to play with than I thought I would have but I'm not sure if deals can be found for peak season.
Does anyone with more experience have any comments or suggestions?? I'd appreciate some input. :geek:

Seriously, I'd keep the reservations you have and take the extra to either upgrade your hoppers to AP's if you don't already have AP's, another suggestion, get reserved seating for Fantasmic, have a couple character meals.....the hotel is really just a place to sleep/shower and while I do stay on property once a year I do several other trips where we stay off property and use the 'extra's for fun extras.

Those are very good ideas. It would be nice to enjoy some of the extras that I haven't paid for in the past.

Thank you!

Just remember for your character meals to call the disney dine line 60 days out to make priority seating (Disney version of reservations) and call 30 days out for reserved seating for fantasmic. The fantasmic seats you pay for with a credit card in advance, the PS for the meals, they just take your name/phone number.

Candy Cane Inn seems to be a top choice amongst the MP'ers here, so I think you've done well in that regard.

I have not done the Fantasmic reserved seating, but in my opinion, the $59 per person price is way too much to spend. Especially if you use the famous MP pole trick! The $59 is almost two character meals, and if you have kids, the interaction with the characters is priceless, so that is a great place to spend your "extra" money and enhance your trip.

A couple of other trip upgrades you might consider:

1) One of the guided tours of DLR.
2) Utilizing Photo Pass.

Hope this is a little "food for thought"...

Enjoy your trip!

I have done Fantasmic! seating (we do it once a trip) and I will say, for us, it is totally worth it. We love Bora (one of the hostesses) and she has always made my kids feel very special.

There are so many options of things to do! I'm glad we're going to be there for 5 days. This is the first Disney trip I'm planning on my own and while it's really really fun, it's hard to narrow down on some of the smaller details. Thank goodness for sites like this, huh?
