If we buy PS2/3 or Wii games from DDT will we be able to play them on UK bought consoles? (We are from the UK). My DH celebrates his birthday at WDW and if he can buy these things here I'm going to ask family to give him dollars for his present (small to pack!) so he can spend them there. If the games are not playable on UK hardware though there's no point. Thank you.

Wii and PS2 games are "region locked" like DVDs and will not work on a European system. (There are work arounds to this but can be expensive and not worth the risk as they will void the warranty on your system.)
The answer to PS3 games is a bit trickier. While most games have proven to actually be region-free, they are usually (if not all) labeled by region (1,2, or 3 using the Blu-Ray region standard) so there is no guarantee that an individual title will work when you return home.

And more importantly, besides the region issue, games purchased in the USA are in the NTSC video format, and those in Europe are in the PAL video format. Games in NTSC format cannot be played on a PAL console.

Yes and no. That applies to the PS2 and Wii. However, (IIRC) the PS3 games are in the newer ATSC format (which is why there are numerous reports of games working on both systems). For those, it only matters if the developers have region-locked the disc.
