I know it looks like we have used too many TS credits but we went ahead and paid for Cindy's Royal Table instead of using 2 TS credits.

Great idea to pay for Cinderella's lunch. It is definitely not worth wasting 2 credits when the meal is only $35 ($5 more than the 1 table credit.)
On the 13th and 14th, what times are your reservations? I ask because you are planning 2 big meals for lunch and dinner. Especially, if both dinners are all you can eat.
67tink40 05-12-2008, 05:49 PM Our lunch ADR time is 11:30 at the Coral Reef and dinner ADR is 6:35 @ Chef Mickey's.
KirstenMagicalTravel 06-01-2008, 05:57 AM Hi there!
Have a wonderful trip! Stop by City Hall in Magic Kingdom and they will give you all "First Time" to WDW buttons for free.
Anyway, back to the food. I am not a fan of OHanas. I found the food so-so and the entertainment even worse. I would highly recommend Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. The food was awesome and the kids had a blast. The staff "interacts" with the guests and it is a really fun place.

When did you eat at 'Ohana? They changed the menu a few months ago. They substituted grilled shrimp for the sausage, and the appetizers and side dishes are better, IMO. They now serve a bread pudding, instead of the pineapple with caramel sauce.
Fantasmicgal 06-01-2008, 12:49 PM I can only offer my opinion on three of your ADRs as I have only dined at Ohana, Garden Grill & Le Cellier. All are excellent in my opinion & you will enjoy the characters & scenery at Garden Grill(ask for a table on the lower tier). In fact, when I asked my DS (18) where he wanted to dine again for our Sept trip he only mentioned Ohana & we have eaten at many places in WDW. Wherever you dine, I hope you have a wonderful time:)
petesimac 06-01-2008, 04:35 PM So glad that you are doing Sci-fi for Lunch; it's sooo much fun. I love your ADR choices; wow, for a first timer you're sure doing a great job with your planning.

I can confirm that the selections now are MUCH better than they were a year ago. I last ate at 'Ohana a couple months ago, and was floored by all the really tasty food! And as a longtime lover of the pineapple with caramel dipping sauce, I'm happy to report that you can now request this for your dessert instead of the bread pudding. Come hungry, and plan on waddling out stuffed!!!
67tink40 06-03-2008, 06:57 PM Thanks for all of your insight! I spent MANY hours pouring over the dining suggestions in the Unofficial Guide and the menus from AllEarsnet. Both were invaluable sources of info. I don't know who's more excited about dining in the castle, my myself or my DD! :)
What are your thoughts on where to eat in DTD? We were thinking Wolfgang Puck Express (or the Downstairs version) or Planet Hollywood.
HTanner 06-11-2008, 02:11 PM arrive early to Coral Reef and request a tank-side table. Otherwise, there is not much to enjoy here, imo.
littlej 06-12-2008, 05:57 AM In DTD my current favorite is the Earl of Sandwich, a counter service place. It's really just sandwiches, wraps and salads, but all are really good! I used to love Bongos, but the quality of the food and especially the service has really gone downhill in the last couple of years. We've been to Planet Hollywood a couple of times, when we get a coupon from booking a package. The food is usually good, but it's LOUD. Similarly, the Rainforest Cafe is visually fun, but SUPER LOUD. The food is okay. We haven't been to Raglan Road yet, but I hear really good things about it. If your kids don't mind eating late, I think there's live entertainment some nights. You'll have to get the scoop from someone else, though.
My suggestion: get a sandwich or salad from Earl of Sandwich, then pig out on sundaes at the Ghirardelli ice cream shop.

I'd second on the Earl. When I last went, they just opened. We went there our first night just for convenience. We ended up going twice more. Great sandwiches - and I don't usually like sandwiches all that much.
Raglan was my favorite place to eat my last trip.

Good idea to pay for Cindy's OOP. I know it's a "must-do" but after doing it once, we'd never do it again. The company was fabulous but the food was so-so and unless you are right in the action down front, you don't even know it's anything "special". I think it's HIGHLY overrated.
We LOVED 'Ohana's. The food was good and the entertainment was really fun. Your kids will love it. They dance with them and do the limbo. The sticky wings are yummy!
The Coral Reef food is good and request a table by the tank; it's really neat to see the fish!
We disliked Chef Mickey's food. The character interaction was really good but the food was the worst of the trip. Truly. Greasy greasy greasy.
I haven't tried the others but 50's, Sci- Fi, and Garden Grill are on our maybe list for next time. Le Cellier is on our for sure list if we can score an ADR.

This is very a different experience to the one we had at Chef Mickey's where the food was fresh, definately not greasy and the salad bar was excellent. This was my DS's favourite meal as he was very sick of burgers and fries....

I know. I read how great it was and was really disappointed. It wasn't even Golden Corral quality. We may have hit the kitchen on an off night but we won't be trying it for dinner again. I keep reading their breakfast is good. I loved the character interaction so we may try it for breakfast but I am not sure I can convince DH to go back especially with so many other char meals options.
Chinner08 06-25-2008, 03:47 PM Made a mistake. Sorry.
tdelaney_98 06-27-2008, 11:18 PM Another vote for Earl of Sandwich, but Wolfgang Puck Express is also very good, and for a sit-down that is terrific, try Raglan Road.
The food and entertainment is excellent!
mccrafty 07-01-2008, 03:39 PM Le Cellier and Chef Mickey's are two of my favorites! Have fun!
What are your thoughts on where to eat in DTD? We were thinking Wolfgang Puck Express (or the Downstairs version) or Planet Hollywood.
Depends on your budget and whether you want to do another TS or you are trying to "use up" QS credits? And whether you are looking at dinner or lunch?
Raglan Road was absolutely terrific-good food, great entertainment(dinner only-think it starts at 8:30 or 9pm-M-Saturday), good atmosphere. We
loved it but not sure if your kiddos would handle eating that late.
Planet Hollywood-not a favorite of mine; teen sons liked it. Good way to help the budget by using the coupon that comes in your package. Also, there's a 10% discount on food and shopping if you use your AAA card-and there's another coupon if you sign up for emails thru their website.
We all liked WPE-we ate at both locations. Slightly different menus at each. I thought it was a great use of a QS credit. Dinner for 3 was almost $60-not including the wine that I ordered-and portions are big enough of many things that you can share-AND the yummy brownies can pinch-hit for breakfast the next day(hey, you're on vacation...)
67tink40 07-02-2008, 07:12 PM Thanks again for all of your suggestions. I think we have decided to hit Earl of Sandwich and have an early and light supper, shop a little bit, and then go to Ghiradelli's for something amazingly sweet!!
tdelaney_98 07-02-2008, 07:34 PM 67, do you like tea? If so, Earl of Sandwich has this LOVELY concoction which is 1/2 lemonade, 1/2 iced earl grey tea. It is LUSCIOUS!
I've had several sandwiches. ALL were great

I just love that combination. In Texas we call it an Arnold Palmer, but that just might be here. :)
Drince88 07-12-2008, 04:17 AM I've heard a half-lemonaid, half-tea being called an Arnold Palmer, but to me making it Earl Grey tea makes it 'not really an Arnold Palmer'
