View Full Version : Pressler Departure
newhdplayer 09-26-2002, 08:22 PM I am really disappointed with everyone on this board. I figure that the champagne would already be flowing, and numerous Pressler-is-gone parties be well under way.
Also, at what time is the "Pressler-memorial-brick" removal and disposal scheduled?
Morrigoon 09-26-2002, 08:35 PM All I can say is, one down, one to go ;)
I think Pressler will do great at the Gap. He is after all, a good shopkeeper. Good for him.
Now if only someone would offer Eisner an opportunity!
Iceman 09-26-2002, 09:08 PM I refer you to the multiple party threads in the "Business of Magic" section. As usual, there is little intelligent discussion and lots of baseless emotional blabbing when it comes to Pressler...
thekirk 09-26-2002, 09:51 PM I FEEL LIKE DANCIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PARTY TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!
God is good.........soon Eisner will be gone too! Hopefully he will go step Pressler's footsteps and leave Disney!
Tigertail777 09-26-2002, 10:00 PM I didn't find out till later today...MAN THAT IS AWESOME!!!! happy happy happy day! Lets just hope they don't replace him with someone worse...after all Eisner is on his cost cutting binge right now to meet board expectations. Pressler should do very well at Gap he was always very good at retail stuff....sounds funny, but I wish him well. Now if they would just kick Eisner out THEN I WILL REALLY PARTY!!!
Morrigoon 09-26-2002, 10:37 PM The article is a crack up though - they refer to Pressler as having been very valuable to Disney. Well, back when in was in charge of the Stores, yes. But lately?
I expect to see the Gap with lots of unpainted facades, store mannequins sprawled on the shop floor in various states of undress, floors un-vacuumed, windows unwashed and I expect their prices to rise by half of what they alrady charge.
If not then I suggest a class action lawsuit by us against Pressler for intentionally sabotaging the reputation and legacy of the WDC.
Morrigoon 09-26-2002, 11:44 PM Can you prove damages to yourself? :P
gn2dlnd 09-27-2002, 12:24 AM What sort of things do you suppose Paul will be able to beanie-ize over at The Gap? (gushes) I'm like, so looking forward to like, limited edition collector khakis, and like maybe, like, glow hats? You know?
Bye-Bye Paul, good riddance.
P.S. Don't forget to send someone to pick up Uncle Mikey.

That, and "well thought of" were also used in various articles I read. What spin!! I think he saw the writing on the wall with the Eisner regime and realized that he would never be CEO. There is no heir apparent to Eisner within the company, as we know, so when he gets around to leaving (or being shown the door), I would like to cast my vote for...Jeff Katzenberg!! ;)

Please let me know if and when you actually do this. It would be worth my taking vacation time to watch/read all of the proceedings.
3IAlienKid 09-28-2002, 12:31 AM Is it really such a big deal Pressler is leaving?
Many say Eisner's control over the company is such that he hires only people who agree with his vision and forces out any who don't. In Pressler, Eisner found someone who was the embodiment of that vision -- a guy trained in the arts of cost cutting, quick (cheap) fixes, and making everything retail. Pressler was essentially just the "yes" guy to Eisner. Eisner is the one w/ the vision and Pressler was the one who found new ways of carrying it out.
With Eisner's grip so tight into every last detail of the company, I can only realistically imagine that the company will replace Pressler with someone like Pressler (or rather, like Eisner). If they actually do manage to hire someone more Walt-like, s/he will likely leave eventually or get canned like the other top brass leaving lately.
I don't think Pressler leaving will change a thing. I can't celebrate until Eisner is gone.

That's true, you did tend to get a little worked up over the subject.
