Hey all,

I'm going to WDW (for the first time!) with my husband in December for a week and would like to spend a day or two doing "other" stuff in the area.

I am looking for opinions on some of the smaller attractions (that is, not WDW, Universal, or SeaWorld) in the Orlando area, especially those in the not-to-be-missed or avoid-like-the-plague categories.

Thanks!

Fantasy of Flight, I think, is a wonderful attraction. It's about an hour away from Orlando. It's an incredible museum about the history of airplanes. I'm not a huge plane buff, but I really like this place.

There is also Kennedy Space Center. It's got some great tours of the launch areas. There is also a museum area with a couple of IMAX films. While your over that way you can watch the Disney Magic or Wonder leave from Port Canavaral (Jetti Park is the best place to watch it from). Dolphins usually jump in front of the ships as they leave. Dolphins like to have fun, too. (The Magic leaves at 5p.m. on Saturdays. The Wonder leaves at 5p.m. on Sundays and Thursdays.

About 2 1/2 to 3 hours away is St. Augustine, FL. It's the oldest city in the U.S. There is a lot of cool stuff there including an old spanish fort, that is really cool.

Good luck on your decisions.
