Does anyone know when the CP is supposed to take place? I had heard that it is usually the first weekend in Dec. Also, is it A LOT busier the weekend that it takes place? Thanks in advance for your help.

Not official, but the Candlelight Processional should be December 6th and 7th. (no way it is the week before, since it is Thanksgiving weekend).

It doesn't impact the parks too much. The parades are held earlier in the day at Disneyland than normal, and then the Town Square area near the Train Station gets very congested, but they do have traffic control keeping the paths moving.

So if you just avoid the area in the evening, the rest of the park should be like a normal weekend, which are always busy due to the amount of locals that have AP's.

Well, if you are on Main Street at any time before, during or after the event, you will be affected. You have to go counter clockwise around the entire area, so don't expect to go to any shops on the West side of the street. Either go early to watch, or avoid the area completely. I really think if you can plan around the event, you are better off. If you want to see it, and it can be fun, then go for it, but it's like driving past a sport's arena after a game. You just don't want to be there.
