From tomorrow's Disneyland Park Update:
DVCNews.com is reporting that some West-coast members of Disney's Vacation Club have received a "save the date" postcard about a member's reception and "Getaway Days Travel Expo" to be held May 24-26 at the Paradise Pier Hotel. The site also reports that the preview units for the new Disney's Grand Californian Villas will be opening about the same time, and speculates that members who attend the event will get the first peek at the new offering. According to the postcard, additional information about the event will be sent to members at a later date.

Did ANY West-coast MousePadder get the postcard for this? If so, where did you buy your DVC membership? I asked a guide at the DLR about it, and he said it was not sent to everyone. I'm going to call DVC tomorrow, but I have a sneaking suspicion this was only sent to those who BOUGHT in California.

I have friends who live here in No. Cal but bought in FL and they got this postcard a couple of weeks ago.
Not sure if they got it because they called their rep months back and asked to be put on a list to be notified when sales would start or not. They will be attending the event and are awaiting more details.

I got this postcard and can't wait to go! I bought contracts in FLA (1998) and in DLR in March, so I don't know which triggered the postcard. I had heard that it didn't matter if you bought in CA, but the postcards were only being sent to folks who live in CA, AZ and NV.

We bought in Florida in November last year and got the postcard. We're local and also DL AP's etc. We're planning on going down, but are waiting on more details.

We purchased in Orlando in 2006 and got the postcard. I did call our SalesRep about 6 weeks ago though inquiring about sales for the Grand - and he said he'd let me know as soon as he knew more. Maybe he added me to the list - or maybe I was already on it being from Nor CA?

Anyway - hubby and I are going over Memorial Day weekend and will see what this is all about. Anyone else planning on attending??

Update - we received another mailing today from DVC. The Getaway Days Travel Expo will have 3 receptions, 7-8:30pm each night Sat May 24th, Sun May 25th and Mon May 26. They will be in the Pacific Ballroom at the Paradise Pier Hotel. You do have to RSVP to attend. When I RSVPd on the website, it mentions several times that "The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Resort & Spa are not yet fully registered and are, therefore, not offered for sale at this time." So, no sales yet...:mad: Not much more info than that - but we're still going!

note that on each day this weekend--from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.--the event is open to the public. My L.A. Times had a postcard yesterday advertising it. (I'm going to the member event Sunday night.) Hopefully the member event will be different from what is offered to the public.
