View Full Version : Where to buy... [Mr Potato Head parts]
hmsharpe 04-30-2008, 08:40 PM Can you tell me where I can buy (and if they still exist) the potato head bits and my little pony bits? I am just wondering, if I bring a cheapo potato head and a home-grown my little pony can I then just buy the accessories from Disney? Was thinking I could bring along a pony and potato head and let the kids buy the stuff to go with it there?
Drince88 04-30-2008, 09:55 PM You should still be able to buy both at Once Upon A Toy in Downtown Disney. A few other places, including some resort gift shops, have SOME Mr. Potatohead parts, but there is a better selection at Downtown Disney.
I was just there this weekend, and they've moved the My Little Pony table ALL the way to the back of the store, well away from the Mr. Potato Head display. The front rooms actually looks somewhat empty without that second giant display and play table.
The Potato Bar looked a little picked over when I was there, but the big news was that the Star Wars parts are now available on the bar! You can now buy the masher and the Vader mask w/o buying the whole boxed set (and a new potato body each time)
AVP
KJSJpipe 05-01-2008, 05:08 AM When we were there last October we bought Potato Head parts in the Animal Kingdom. The stores name escapes me but it was near Triceratops Spin and Dinosaur.
hmsharpe 05-01-2008, 08:53 AM awesome thanks-and can you bring your own from home then? Is that really worth the hassle?
KJSJpipe 05-01-2008, 09:02 AM I am not sure what you want bring from home. You get a box and fill that up with as much stuff you can get in and still get it kinda closed. No potato required. I think it is some thing like $20 per box.

I think she was thinking of brining a body from home so the kids could play with it in the hotel room! (Or on the plane ride home!!!)
UsBurchs 05-01-2008, 09:11 AM I know at Disneyland we've bought just the parts and filled up the box. They were ok with it there, so I'd imagine it would be ok at WDW too. If you HAVE to buy a body, just make sure to fill up the inside of the potato too to save space, hook a "bottom" to the bottom and wedge everything else around him then drop in the little things that can fill the spaces. Dang it! I'm FILLING that box! ;) Just make sure you can still close the lid - that's important.
KSJayhawk 05-04-2008, 01:19 PM Yes, we bought a $5 Mr. Potato Head at home, but brought him with us... and then were able to fill an entire box with just "parts". They all fit well and it was worth it to get so many fun Disney pieces!
scoobydooby 05-04-2008, 02:39 PM We did the My Little Pony box to get DD something to play with in the hotel room. I am therefore able to confirm that if you pack the box carefully, you can get one of everything in, including a pony and the big accessory - (sorry, can't remember what it is but it's big compared to the other stuff). Dress the pony in layers, that works well. Presenting our bulging box at the till I was a bit embarrassed - (imagine the person at the buffet who chooses everything then has to walk back to their table displaying their greed) -however, the lady serving us didn't flinch!
scoobydooby 05-04-2008, 02:40 PM Sorry - that was at Once Upon a Toy at DTD.

Oohh! I get it.
hmsharpe 05-04-2008, 09:00 PM Yes, I wanted to bring it from home so they could play with it, and also, b/c I am terribly cheap and figured it would take up lots of space in the box that i could instead fill with potato fixin's. Now I am tempted to buy a pony as well!
What do you get with the pony ones? I've seen the potato heads, but never the ponies.
pixiedust 05-05-2008, 01:31 PM If you cram the small parts into the potato body (it opens up) the potato doesn't really take up that much extra room in the box. Fill the rest of the box and the spaces with other parts.
I buy just accessories all the time, there are lots of seasonal ones. Summer, Halloween, etc. Seems there are always new parts to buy, so I end up with another box every year or two. I bring them into my office and the kids have a ball with them while their parents are busy with me.
DTD Once Upon A Toy has the biggest selection. I've seen them at Chester and Hester's in Dinoland at AK and a few other locations, but a smaller selection.
Buying a box of Disney parts now and then is definitely less expensive for me than buying pins all the time!
