View Full Version : Four Parks In One Day
Has anybody done all four parks in one day? Mike Scopa at allears.net has laid out a challenge: Not for the faint of heart (http://www.allearsnet.com/blogs/mikescopa/2008/04/not_for_the_faint_of_heart_1.html)
I want to try this, but I doubt that I can get my family to agree to it.
In one day, you have to go to all four parks, and ride 3 different attractions in each. One of those three needs to be a headliner. All the ground rules are laid out in his blog.
hmsharpe 04-29-2008, 11:10 AM I just read it and it sounds like fun if you have teenagers. I have preschoolers so I think it would border on suicidal, but a fun challenge for the older crowd if you have an extra day to try something new
Shula 04-29-2008, 11:14 AM I just read his blog last week. We will be there with my entire family next month and will get a date night out of it. My husband and I decided to have an "Amazing Race" night. It won't make Mike Scopa's criteria but that's okay. Because of park closing times our schedule is this. We will start at 4:00 heading to AK for EE maybe Dinosaur, depends on how long EE takes. Head to MK for SM and BTM followed by HS to ride TOT & RRC and ending the evening with EMH's at EP for Test Track. We will pick up fastpasses at whichever park we hit that morning. If we get halfway through our race I'll be surprised, but at least we tried! Wish us luck!
Freakygeek 04-29-2008, 02:27 PM My (insane) friend and I did this last year. I don't think we hit all of Mike Scopa's criteria, but we were close (we also added the challenge of using all the types of transportation: boat, bus and monorail.) I gotta say at the end of the day when we plunked to the pavement to watch Illuminations we were done. I mean really done. If it hadn't been our last day there we would have skipped all parks the next day and laid by the pool all day. I walked a pair of Rockport sandals completely flat.
But it was worth it to have a catchphrase like "4 Parks. 3 Modes of Transportation. 2 Girls. 1 Day" for a trip report.
GusMan 04-30-2008, 09:59 AM Been there - done it. We did it as a "greatest hits" day a few trips ago. It was a great time but I think the only way were able to do this was that the crowds were very light and we started really, really early.
rustyinc2fan 05-02-2008, 12:42 PM Me and my girlfriend have done it, not scopas but we did our own started real early and ended real late, hit several huge attractions, and quite a few small ones plus lunch and dinner(counter service that is) and a snack for breakfast.
rustyinc2fan 05-02-2008, 12:47 PM Just read scopas again, it would be tiresome, but could easlily be done(that is if you know your way around the parks)me and my girlfriend are going to try this in the next week or two!!
mzloolue 05-02-2008, 03:41 PM I don't want to do it.
I must be getting old
And wise...
scoobydooby 05-03-2008, 02:00 PM Wish us luck!
Good luck!

Yup. Did this a couple years back when crowds were light. Right after 9/11 I think.

Tracy and I did this in 2006, but not as a part of any "challenge." We just felt like hitting every park. I know we did at least 3 different attractions in every park except for AK, since I can really only stomach 2 attractions in that whole park (EE and KS). However I'm sure we could have squeezed in a viewing of ITTBAB if we wanted. As long as it's not too crowded, it's easy. The key is to grab a FP for the "headliner" ride the second you arrive in the park, even if you have to pass an attraction you wanted to experience to get there.
I discussed it with the family, and we're probably going to attempt it.
We may alter the rules a bit, but we figure that it might be fun to hit all four parks, and take lots of photos to scrap book.
Mousellaneous 05-12-2008, 12:18 PM We almost always do this. As long as it's a long day it's not that difficult. I've done at least three rides at each park, and the headliners are the main rides we like! You just need to start early and get a lot done in the beginning. Oh, and have plenty of snacks on you in order to keep your energy level up. I've been through seven gates in a single day: it's exhausting but it's a lot of fun.

Sorry to bump up an old thread, but since I started it, I decided to post our plans.
We get to Disney on Saturday. We have maximum fun for the first 6 days (Sunday-Friday). Next Saturday we have to send my daughter home to Nevada. The rest of the day will be pretty chilled. No rush to go anywhere. Hang by the pool, maybe do some mini-golf. Maybe hit a park later on.
The next day (Sunday) was going to be our "make-up day". What did we miss? What did we want to do again? Monday (our last day) was going to be our 4 Park day. Animal Kingdom has morning EMH, and Studios has evening. But I then realized that our monday was also a "moving" day. We have to pack up and clear our room, and check out (staying at Shades of Green) and take a cap to Pop Century (so we can get to MCO on DME). So a lot our early touring time was gone!
So we decided to make Monday our make-up day, and Sunday is to be our 4 Park day.
We will start at either AK or DHS. It depends on how badly we want to ride Everest or Toy Story. We will be at whichever park for rope drop. Then we plan to do 3 rides each park for the first three parks:
Toy Story, Star Tours, and Tower of Terror at the Studios
Everest, Dinosaur & Safari at Animal Kingdom
Soarin', Test Track, and maybe Maelstrom at EPCOT
From there we hit Magic Kingdom which has evening EMH, so we can stay until 0100! Once there, we want to do as much as possible (either what time allows, or how long we can last!). We'd love to hit all three mountains, and hit at least one attraction in each land! I have heard the Jungle Cruise is best at night, and this is our first scheduled night at MK, so we would have to likely hit it then. I also need to see Wishes, and this must be done at night as well.
Our other part of the challenge is to ride as many different types of Disney Transportation. Our first bus ride will be on SOG's bus, so that won't count. So we would have to bus between AK and the Studios. Take the monorail from EPCOT to the TTC. And I believe we can take a boat from TTC to MK. Is that correct?

Yes, there's a large ferry from the TTC to the MK. It's actually a very nice view of the lake.
You also need to get from the Studios to Epcot - may I suggest a "Friendship Boat" for that. They are much smaller than the large ferry to go from the TTC to MK. However, if you're at a decent walking pace, it can be faster to walk, so you could count that as walking (because obviously, you won't be walking enough on that day ). What I do because I get anxious when I'm close but not there, is take the boat from the Studios and get off at the Yacht/Beach club, then walk to Epcot. You still stop at Swan/Dolphin, though, but you skip the stop at the Boardwalk. I don't think I've ever had the Frienship beat me to Epcot when I get off at the Beach/Yacht.

If we decide that riding Toy Story is our first priority (which I am betting that it is), then we'd have to bus from DHS to AK. Then bus again from AK to EPCOT. And finally Monorail and then Ferry to MK.

Good point. And I think Toy Story might be a bigger priority. I do worry about you trying to ride both Everest AND the Safari if you don't arrive at rope drop there, though. But Soarin and Test Track are the same way, as are Toy Story and ToT --- so you may have to adjust the 3 attractions in the 2nd and third parks so that your whole day isn't spent standing in hour+ long lines.

Drince88 08-15-2008, 05:16 AM I think you could hit 3 - just maybe not the three you've chosen!
And don't forget the train to get from Point A to B in the MK as a mode of transport!
And don't forget the train to get from Point A to B in the MK as a mode of transport!I didn't even think of the train. Good call! 4 parks, and 4 different means of Disney Transportation!
I Are Baboon 08-19-2008, 09:57 AM Me, my wife and a friend of ours have done this. All four parks plus Downtown Disney plus the Boardwalk. We have pictures of the three of us in front of each park's entrance and have the collage on our wall. :) We didn't just take the pictures and head to the next park...we made sure we rode a couple of rides, did a quick lap around the park, and of course we had to eat. It was a long, tiring day, but it's just us three healthy adults so we move quickly. We've been to WDW a bunch of times and it was something we wanted to do.
Good times. :)

Does Toy Story have FastPass?
Rockchalker 08-24-2008, 12:03 PM Sorry, meant to start a new thread!!!
Are the rules for Fast Passes the same as DLR? A pass has to expire before getting another one? What about at different parks? For example, I have a FP for TOT that expires at 3pm, will I be able to get a FP for Everest when I am at AK at 2pm?
Drince88 08-24-2008, 05:04 PM Yes, Toy Story has a fastpass.
Because of the distance between parks, it's tough to get FP in more than one park at a time, but I believe it can be done.
I have heard of people using FP late as well as those being turned away for being late. Personally, I just try to use my FP within the window, and if I don't, it's for a good reason (like a 2+hour line)
