View Full Version : Who was at the park this weekend? (April 25-27, 2008)
River Belle 04-27-2008, 10:54 AM We went Monday and it felt very, very crowded to me. Has the weekend gotten any better? I know it is quite hot, and I'm wondering if this is attracting bigger (or smaller!) crowds. We'd like to go this evening when it cools down...
Thanks in advance!
HisKid1 04-27-2008, 11:47 AM We were there on Friday night and it seemed busier than a number of other Fridays that we have been there recently. At 11:00 or 11:30, the wait for space was still 40 minutes. We did get to walk on to POTC and HM, but it just generally seemed like there were a lot more people there. (Extra waiting for railroad and parking tram, as well.) One thing we noticed was that at almost 8 pm, every handicapped spot was full in the Timon parking lot. There are usually about half there on Friday nights when we have been recently.
Toocherie 04-27-2008, 12:02 PM It was very busy in DCA yesterday and I was told Disneyland was even worse. Apparently this is the last weekend for some promotion (not the two-fer--the buy 3, get 5 days?)--and as a result busier than usual. Plus with the food and wine festival there are more people than usual in DCA.
Add to that that it was HOT (shades of MouseAdventure weekend~!) but all in all it was still better than NOT being at DLR!
The heat has definitely not kept crowds away--and of course everyone wants on the water rides--GRR was at 70 minutes late yesterday afternoon. Drink and ice cream lines at the ODV carts are pretty long too. (Although at 6:30 last night there were only four or five people in line for CornDog Castle.) The food and wine special food area on Pacific Wharf was a walk-up and the Mexican place didn't look too busy.
Sansarc 04-27-2008, 04:05 PM We just came back from DLR. We were there all day yesterday, went to Downtown Disney today. It was very hot. About 95 maybe? It was still crowded and very busy, but we had a great time. We arrived at the park at 9:30 a.m. and went to Pirates first, then Haunted Mansion. Both rides only had waits of 10 minutes. We managed to go on Pirates again later in the day -- about 5:00 p.m. -- and the wait was maybe 20 minutes. The longest wait I saw all day was for Splash Mountain -- 65 minutes. I took a picture of the ride board, or whatever it's called! -- where it lists the wait times for the most popular rides. If you want, I can check the picture and let you know what the posted times were, but they weren't that bad. My family went on Star Tours (I'm afraid of Star Tours!) and they literally walked right on -- this was at 7:00 p.m., so the parade had basically ended by then.
River Belle 04-27-2008, 05:40 PM Thanks to everyone for the replies! I really appreciate it...
We're packing up now and are going to brave the crowds, though I'm feeling a little more optimistic after reading Sansarc's post. :)
Mile-high chocolate cake is going to make a yummy dessert. I am sure it will be a fun evening.
Thanks again, everyone!
doublewide77 04-27-2008, 07:29 PM Was at both parks Saturday evening and it was crowded. Went mostly to enjoy the warm evening temps and the wine fest.
Buzz was 15 minutes at 9pm, didn't really notice other lines since wasn't trying for any. Alternate nemo viewing was walk-on, actual line seemed at least an hour.
Alisonsmom 04-28-2008, 09:03 PM I was there and all i have to say it HOT HOT HOT. And yes it didn't keep the crowds away.
DianeM 04-28-2008, 09:23 PM I was there all day thursday and friday all day, then saturday afternoon and sunday morning, and it was hot and crowded this weekend. We decided to avoid the saturday rush and spent most of the day at the Museum of Natural History, but were at the park by 6:00. It was still pretty warm. We waited for POTC for about 20 minutes during the parade and a man almost got into a fistfight with somebody who cut in line. We waited in the hub in front of the castle for the fireworks and it was completely filled up (including the street) over an hour before the fireworks started. Even friday night it was pretty crowded. We stayed in DCA all day, and it was busy but not too crowded, but we did the electric parade trick and went into DL to see the fireworks. Standing at the center of the entry plaza, we saw the fireworks and the crowds - and it looked like all of Main Street and the hub were packed. Sunday morning there were a lot of people around and every ride had waits, but we weren't there to ride, just for a few hours of "good-bye", so we didn't worry about it. It wasn't as crowded as saturday, but we left at noon so I don't know what happened.

River Belle 04-28-2008, 10:20 PM We ended up going Sunday night and were pleasantly surprised. We were there from about 7-midnight and were able to get in about 13 rides, with Peter Pan being the longest wait (20 minutes). We walked on to POTC, HM, and most of the FL rides (in the last half hour). It was a beautiful evening--very warm, not too crowded, and just as magical as ever.:)
TTFN92 04-29-2008, 08:10 AM My niece went with the school choir and she was telling us how crowded it was. My sister was wondering what would have been going on and I forgot about the 2 extra days promotion being over that weekend. Makes sense. The last time I went on the last weekend of a promotion it was miserable .
So, is it still supposed to be hot this weekend, beginning of next week? And it isn't cooling down at night? Are there Santa Ana's or is it just hot? Just need to know how to pack. I'll still take everything but would like to have an idea in mind.
