View Full Version : Resident 2Fer Tix-do you need to show ID?
randawggy 04-27-2008, 09:09 AM Hi,
Going to Dland 5/14-5/17. Have not been since 10/06. My question is do you need to show CA I.D. when redemming a resident 2fer ticket? My Aunt had some tickets she can't use (she lives near Anaheim) and I live in Las Vegas. When i go to the park, are they going to ask for a CA ID?
Thanks,
Randy
BTW, how do you get those countdown timers in your signatures?
Malcon10t 04-27-2008, 09:40 AM The people I know who have used them have been asked for ID.

First thread in the FAQ forum (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=38080) ;) Here's this thread in the Admin forum, too (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=73208)

I bought a pair for friends from New York. They asked me for my ID when I bought them but they didn't check their IDs at the gate or anything like that.

I had this same experience, but I think that it depends on how the two-fer was purchased. If it was bought at the ticket BOOTH, you show you id right then, so then my friend used it and they didn't ask him for ID (not that it would have mattered, as he is also a socal resident). I know that when people buy the two-fer or other socal tickets from another location (like when my mom bought hers from costco) you have to show ID at the ticket booth when you exchange it
Good point. I've seen those cards for sale at Ralph's, Long's, etc. but I just stopped at the park to buy mine. I'm glad I did!
vfire 04-27-2008, 05:43 PM They only check when you buy the tickets not when you come to the gate. In other words any California resident could buy the tickets, hand them off to someone not from SoCal and they could use them anyway. Even to buy them, a SoCal resident could buy a few of them in one shot at the ticket booth, and hand them off to friends who are not SoCal residents to use at the gate. Disney just wants the money and the bodies in the parks to buy more stuff.

I would hate for someone to get to the park expecting to use the tickets and not be able to. I would verify the type of ticket.
stitch97 04-27-2008, 08:42 PM I used one with my mom in Feb. She is a CA resident, I was visiting from Idaho. When we went to DL, they asked her for her zip code when she first went in. They didn't ask me anything but I was standing right by her. When we went to CA; they didn't ask us anything. They do make it clear on the ticket that they will ask for ID at the gate, no matter where you buy the ticket.
randawggy 04-27-2008, 08:54 PM Thanks Everyone. The things i have sure look like tickets and not vouchers. They have a bar code on the back and disney art on the front. It does say on them, please present with ID, but i am hoping they don't ask. Maybe i do need to exchange these in which case i am out of luck since no CA id.

vfire 04-27-2008, 09:01 PM I bought the 2fer from Vons where they didn't ask for ID from me, and then had a friend from overseas use it at the gate both days where no one asked for an ID.
Alisonsmom 04-28-2008, 09:15 PM On the Disneyland website it says that you can buy up to 8 tickets with one valid ID. So I took it as a SoCal has to buy it but anyone can use it. My brother met us at the park bought them and went home. I used them with my daughter and no one questioned us.
Darkbeer 04-28-2008, 10:04 PM The official Rules from Disneyland.com, and printed on each and every ticket is CLEAR.
Tickets valid for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000-93599 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999. Proof of residency required for admission.
Now, does the Turnstile CM's check each and every ticket? The answer is no, but they do check, and it is clear, Disney does have the right to turn anyone away without proper ID trying to use the discounted ticket.
Buyer Beware.
Alisonsmom 04-29-2008, 09:30 AM "May purchase up to 8 tickets per person per day with valid ID. Tickets may not be sold or transferred for commercial use. Offer may not be combined with other discounts or promotions. Offer not valid before 01/07/08. Subject to restrictions and change without notice." - from Disney site
It also says 8 tickets per day with valid ID. Not 8 valid ID's. So I'm thinking perhaps they should make it more clear. I have had no problem and have friends who also have had no problems with this. I guess I'd be curious to hear who has been carded at the entry. Not buying the ticket but the actual entry.

They take them to the ticket booth (Grandma stays home) and they are then asked for ID. If Grandma went to Disney ticket booths, bought the ticket, showed the ID, and then was given entry media, they could enter. But, if Grandma has the Von's card, which then has to be redeemed for the tickets, they will GENERALLY get asked for ID. If Grandma is there and shows ID, they are good to go.

I completely agree with the above scenario in that they will be carded if you buy at Von's. If you buy them online and pick them up at Will Call I also know that they will card who is picking them up (ordered them) for valid ID. But if you are picking them up at Will Call they check ID of one person not everyone. The same if you buy them at the front gate, they ID who is purchasing, they do not check ID for each one you buy. So I still stick with there needs to be some clarification. As I see it you are still not required to have valid IDs for all the tickets, only the person who purchased or who is picking up (will call) the tickets. So yes, someone who buys them needs to be a SoCal resident.
vfire 04-29-2008, 01:45 PM I bought them directly at Von's and walked right up to the gate. I didn't need to redeem the paper Von's gave me for anything and nobody at the gate asked for any IDs. And Von's didn't ask me for any ID either.
