Germany: VW theme park Bug-lover's dream (http://www.cnn.com/2002/TRAVEL/DESTINATIONS/09/19/volkswagen.park.ap/) - Associated Press, 9/19/02

QuikQuote: Volkswagen's Autostadt theme park has so much to see -- art and architecture, film, food, and shopping -- that visitors might momentarily forget the gleaming steel-and-glass complex belongs to Europe's largest car maker.
First, before the pavilions showing off Volkwagen's cars, technology and history, there's architect Gunther Henn's towering entrance hall, with fresh air drifting in through 20-meter (60-foot) swiveling wall panels, and artist Ingo Guenther's hanging globe sculpture.

That's sounds pretty cool. I hope that sort of concept catches on with other types of bussinesses. I would love to see a candy company create something similiar to the factory in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

I did find the following qoute from the VW article amusing.
There's the NebelGang, or FogWalk, which visitors must walk through before seeing an exhibit on safety technology. A dry mist in the tunnel makes it impossible to see despite the bright light, and you have to inch along holding a handrail -- raising the anxiety level a bit before thinking about safety.

To me, the paraphrased version of this quote would be: Before learning about safety, the guests are lead through very unsafe conditions which could injure them. :D

I think it's great that they have 360 degree film. This place sounds like it would be fun.

Here's a weird, sorta-related question - Would Herbie be out of place in the Germany pavilion if he were part of a display about VW?

That's a really cool idea. That would be perfect.

Hehe, that sounds like a neat park... I wonder if the have the busses with carpeting? I wonder if you could rent them for a couple of hours. :slap: bad Nigel:D

Oh, I was just hearing someone else talk about old old style VW bugs, no gas gauge and 36 HP.:D
