DPP lawmakers push to establish military theme park (http://www.etaiwannews.com/Taiwan/2002/09/23/1032749939.htm) - Taiwan News, 9/23/02
A group of legislators from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) suggested yesterday that the government push for the establishment of a military theme park based on a "state-owned, privately-managed" formula to create new jobs.
The lawmakers, including Trong Chai, Lin Chin-hsing, Chiang Chao-yi and Lee Chen-nan, said in a joint press release that the government could utilize a military base to accommodate the proposed amusement park, but no location or plan to vacate military space has been chosen yet.
"We should select a suitable deserted military plot of land to build a world-class theme park featuring combat skills performances, shooting games and military equipment exhibitions, " they said in the news release.
Alas, my Press Release source doesn't have the Taiwan Press release... oh well..
So do we have some competition for Disney already in China?????
